The best park rangers! Gracious and helpful. Great out of the way park not too far from Interstate 10. Bathrooms are dated but clean. Has a big room you can use on bad weather days to play board games and cards. Trash bin is quite a way from campsites. Will be back.
Best marked trails I have ever seen. We hike all over the country. I appreciated the frequent blaze marks and the signs at every intersection. The camping was terrible. We stayed for four nights. The sites are so close together that we heard the furnace kick on all through the night on the rig next to us. Bathrooms are clean and the camp host was fantastic. If you want a superior camping experience then visit the hike-in sites. This park has the best primitive sites I have seen.
Beautiful place to go hiking, or even just to go for a picnic. I didn't like that the entrance to the trails weren't clearly named. Anytime you got to a split, they were named then, but for someone who isn't fantastic at reading even simple trail maps, it was a little frustrating to not be 100% sure what trail I was taking. But still beautiful and clean!
We had a great time camping here and my family enjoyed the trails which are on the longer side. Love to watch the stars by the river behind the historic Gregory House at night. Very clean bathroom & showers. Hosts were kind & helpful. Lots of families visited here. We travel over 5 hours to come here every year!
Beautiful St Park.in Florida. Quiet in the middle of nowhere. Gorgeous views, trails everwhere for miles. Love this place.
There are two hiking loops, each with reasonable challenges. One affords you river views, and three camping options. The other offers one camping area. Wildlife is varied, and appropriately represents Florida's diversity.
Park was nice. Terrain was mountain-like, not at all like typical Florida. Bathrooms were clean. Saw deer in the nature trail. The weeping ridge trail waterfall was wonderful. Far enough way from everything that we did not have to listen to traffic. One caveat: bring everything you need because there are no stores anywhere close.
The staff was extremely helpful. The view was phenomenal. Extremely dog friendly for anyone that likes to hike or camp with their pups. Most of the trails are heavily shared with trees so it wasn't too hot. We had a great day and will definitely be back.
Be very careful at this campsite. It is beautiful and the scenery is spectacular, but from what I have read this campsite is known for its large population of copperhead snakes. We had to cut our trip short because my dog was bitten. And I was walking them on the dirt road around the campsite. I went to the doggy bag stand (which is very near the bathrooms) and that is where she was bit. These snakes are in the camp area and not afraid of activity it seems. This happened at dusk. Be very careful! I would have never come here had I heard about the reputation for the most snakes in a state park. Spent $1,200 this weekend trying to save my dog.
Great state park. Bathhouse wasn't good at all. Water hurt your skin when showering, no ventilation, but well kept up with on the cleaning.
Another Great Example of one of the Great State Parks that Florida has to offer. Nice, clean, remote setting, nice walking and hiking trails. Great views of the Apalchicola River. and a must main attraction of this park is the 1850's The Gregory House.
This park is gorgeous. We stayed a whole weekend in a primitive campsite. The change in scenery just through the hiking trails is incredible. Tons of wildlife, elevation changes, and beautiful scenery. They have one main trail and then a challenge trail. It takes a few hours to complete either. We will definitely be returning.
Truly enjoyed a few days with family and friends. We called ahead and reserved and made sure to let them know we had a 43 ft fifth wheel. They were very accommodating and put us in a great large site. Sites all have water and electric. We loved the seclusion and the setting. Had beautiful views and wonderful nature trails too. Bathrooms were very clean and well-maintained. Lots of history.
