Tamworth Town House was built in 1794 as a meeting house. The building was originally located on present-day Cleveland Hill Road. Its original site is marked by a bronze tablet mounted on a boulder. Minimally remodeled in 1852 after being disassembled & rebuilt at its new location, many of the original windows from the 1790s survive in the structure. The remodeling of 1852 was intended to impart a strong Greek Revival style to the exterior of the relocated building. Because the meeting house was less than sixty years old when it was moved to the village, its first floor frame had not deteriorated & remains in good condition to this day.
