Best instructors (Jordan was awesome), learned a lot about paragliding, got to try out the controls, and what a beautiful view. Also, we we're up for 25-30 minutes so it was a great long flight
The Glide port is an aviation facility which restrooms are not public. Down the cliff there's a hard to reach place/beach, Black's beach because you must go down in a sturdy walk and then go back up to the cliff so don't carry to much weight and bring tennis shoes.
It's a nudist beach so be prepared to enjoy it or don't waste your time going down. Mainly males naked some gays.
A nice beach and as the name says have black sand.
Great views. Fun to watch the paragliding. Awesome path down to a beautiful and nude beach.
Very cool place to see paragliding.
Beautiful coastal views.
You can also go hiking around this place.
Nice spot to grad a sourdough sandwich for lunch and watch some gliders if you have time. It's actually really cool to see how they do it and the views are great.
The gliderport is cool. Not sure if a good one as I am not a glider pilot. The views however are great. You can see from La Jolla to Torrey Pines State Park with a huge chunk of the Pacific. Stay for sunset on a clear day.
A must visit even if you are not into gliding. I am not. It has some of the most fantastic views of the ocean from a higher altitude. When we went, it was a little cloudy but still great views. The glider port closes at 5.30 but you can still see gliders even after that. There is a good seating area to have a cup of coffee or beer and enjoy the view as well as the folks gliding. There is a huge grass area where the preparations before flight are done. The food shops were closed when we went, so cant comment on that.
Very cool spot to watch people gliding over the cliffs. It is even better to watch them go too low trying to get a good peak of blacks beach, then have to settle in to an unexpected loss of lift
My wife, son, and daughter (10) went on the glide and loved it. The professional pictures are not really worth the money you can stand on the left side cliff and get good shots.
WARNING: nude beach below as my daughter was shocked due to having to land on Black Beach when the winds died down during the glide. Not their fault but was unfortunate for her.
Wow, so much fun! SCARY too! But the instructors were great and patient. Just a bit outa my comfort zone if you know what I mean. Truly exciting experience, one for my BUCKET list. Speaking of bucket lists, there was another one just down on the shores of this beach. Check it out if you ever wanted a beach with no swim suits. Next on my list surfing in my birthday suit! See ya there!
One of the best places to take a friend from out of town . Show them what San Diego is all about !
Unforgettable experience, but you must be patient. If the winds are at the minimum I would wait until it picks up. The ride will be more enjoyable and you won't have to walk back up the beach.
Not a terrible hike just wasn't expecting it.
