Love Tonic - Great GWU bar and really good food. I think a lot of parents take their kids there since it is on campus. Really old but well maintained building. Oh and Friday and Saturday nights it is packed and very popular.
Bustling bar grill cafe at GW. I had breakfast for lunch. Fried egg perfectly cooked. The only quirk is the bathroom which is upstairs and can be hard to get to and crowded. Nice walk from the moments and things into an area that feels less touristy and more like a college town. Service was good especially since there are multiple levels and concepts happening upstairs downstairs and outside. Sports and news on the television.
Great food & drink selections and awesome happy hour. Has a casual, lively atmosphere which is great for any occasion. Would recommend coming in for their totchos (tater tot nachos!) Service and staff were friendly and helpful as well!
Some of the best Calamari I've ever had and their pizzas are great! Very well priced and such a cute area! Would be a regular if we were locals!
Center of the George Washington University, Tonic is a one of the main Bars around the area. During the warmer weather it is possible to sit outside in the backside of the restaurant. However, I personally do not enjoy Tonic. One, because I don’t drink. Second, the food is not great if you are not drinking at a bar.
Can’t complain about the food, but will complain about the service. Perfectly fine pub grub; I’d eat there again. Love the tots. But the service was painfully slow and would make me reconsider stopping there again overall.
This was the closest food spot near our hotel and it's great if there's no other options. It's mostly college students so service is poor (rarely see our server who forgot a few items as well). Food quality is good if you're starving. Overall it's extremely average in all aspects.
Wait staff on 2nd floor is great, but never have had fast service in garden, or on patio—one point a server got angry at me for her messing up my order, and heard her talking poorly about us to the wait staff. Brunch food is great but the cinnamon chicken wings has hair all over it the last 3 times I have ordered it. Otherwise the fare is just OK. Good happy hour deals though.
Nice outdoor seating in the summer and great bar food. Try their tatchos. They are great.
Good brunch place. Great poached eggs. Adult brunching, not a child place as the main restaurant is in the bar area. Old pharmacy renovated into a bar and restaurant.
It has been months since my family visited DC, and they're still talking about this place and how good the food was here. My boyfriend especially still talks about his Toffle; he keeps wishing for a second to turn the meal into a sandwich. I'd order the dipping sauce if they bottled it.
Our waiter never checked on us and the tacos were really sub-par, to the point that we didn't even end up eating them. How do you mess up nachos? The atmosphere was really cool and eclectic though. Overall, I'd give it a thumb down.
You get quite a bit of food, but the quality just isn't up to snuff. It's one of those places where I would try to suggest something else if it was brought up. Tater tots were pretty good, with a variety of sauces on the side - but that's where it stopped.
I had the chicken and cakes - chicken wings and 3 pan cakes with maple bourbon syrup. Chicken wings left much to be desired, and the pancakes were really dry, coming with just a smidgen of syrup. My wife had a buffalo chicken sandwich which tastes like a normal chicken sandwich, which is fine - but lot when you ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich.
The people were kind enough and we left more than a fair tip. We stopped in on a whim and were fairly disappoint. I don't recommend anyone else stop in on a whim either.

I typically only come here for the happy hour prices, otherwise it is a bit unaffordable even for DC standards. I really enjoy the decor of this restaurant, the outdoor seating with the bar makes this restaurant stand out above most restaurants in Foggy bottom. If i did have to choose a restaurant without happy hour options, I would pick this place if I knew I could snatch a seat outside in the spring time or early fall.
Came here for a few drinksnot a bad place. I heard they have awesome tater tots so you should try those if come here.
We didn't have the tots but what we did have was good. The salmon soup and salmon ceaser salad were both fantastic. The wings are huge and flavorful. The cocktails are well crafted. The pizza was a little too saucy so the crust was a bit soggy in the middle. The guac isn't very good but the fish tacos had great sauce and the slaw was awesome. Happy hour is a great deal. Even the house wine was good. Overall this place is great. The staff is organized and efficient. Very happy and will definitely visit again.
Service was nice. Staff friendly and efficient. The foils was mediocre. BBQ sandwich was dry, with a dry roll. They said their tater tots were special, but they seemed like normal tots to me. There must be something else to the place, because it is busy.
Ate lunch here on a Monday afternoon. Had a really good Salmon burger and tater tots. Can't remember the server's name, but he was working the 3rd floor and super nice. Food came fast and tasted great!
