My husband and I absolutely loved this place! Great food and beautiful atmosphere!

This used to be my wife and I's favorite place to eat. We used to live in Bennington and came here alot.
On a whim I decided to take us back here 3 years later and we were both ended up extremely disappointed.
Our favorite appetizer used to be the calamari. The calamari we received today for 8.99 was an extremely small portion. We felt like we were just eating breading. There was very little actual calamari on our plate.
My wife ordered the surf and turf salad for 16.99. She ended up getting a side salad portion with 3 small / thin steak tips and 3 small pieces of shrimp. Probably 4 oz of actual protein in the salad.
I got the NEW turkey dinner. The menu said thick pieces of turkey. I got very thin, hard, over cooked turkey. They also way over salted my broccoli. I couldn't even eat it. It was as salted as McDonald's french fries..no lie.
I'm not one to write reviews like thisbut I'm just extremely disappointed that we came all the way back here for this. No idea what happened to this place in the past 3 years, but it's not what we used to experiencethat's for sure. Maybe we were just unlucky and the rest of the food is goodno idea.response / report this review -

They have a huge menu as well as ample portions of tasty food. The staff is courteous and efficient. In all one of my favorite places in this part of the state.

We held my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary in the function room of the Tollbooth Tavern. We had over 70 people attend. From the beginning we recieved one-on-one guidance to assist in the planning. The staff is so flexible, meeting every need we had. During the function the wait staff was professional and the dinners were delicious (and full sized portions). I can't say enough. The party could not have gone any better and my parents were so very happy. If I need to plan any future functions they would be my first choice!

I was there a couple of weeks ago and loved it! Very good food, attentive waitstaff on a busy night, nothing bad to say about the place! It was a great local place to see a band. I'm writing this review today because I did a Google search for their web site to see who is playing there soon - I'm eager to go back!

The head bar person ( a female) is very aloof and inattentive, unless you are a lone male. She has very poor customer service skills making the entire experience poor. Too bad, as food and location excellent for us. Will not go back unless she is replaced!
