The problem with this review is that it is absolutely not the motel proprietor's fault.
Let me rewind. Some months ago it became apparent that I would need to travel to Pocatello. So, what I did was I found a cheap enough place and I rented a room for the one night I would need to be in Pocatello.
I had a little bit of time so I hopped over to the nearby Jacksons to get a couple things. On my way out, I had a rather sketchy experience with an individual who apparently recognized me from being at the Thunderbird Motel. It's entirely possible that this person was just clueless and socially oblivious. However, that is of little difference or comfort to me. This person was asking a lot of questions that was making the whole thing very sketchy. They were asking for my name, where I'm from, what my room number was, when I'm leaving, etc. I could not quickly extricate myself from the situation, so telling this person that these questions were a bit out of line was not an option. I watched this person go back to their room before even walking in the direction of mine. I did not leave my room until I was ready to check out. I don't want any more interactions with this person, or any other habitual denizens of that little place.
If that's the kind of person I'm likely to interact with while at the Thunderbird Motel, I am absolutely not going back. I find that sad because that is absolutely not the proprietor's fault. Also, a couple of hours after I quickly got inside my room with hopefully nobody watching, I hear a noise from the door that while I'm not certain what it was, it did sound a lot like someone trying to enter without a key.
I didn't leave that room until I was ready to check out and leave.
My brother stayed here for quite a few days. He was treated with SO much kindness!! I highly recommend this hotel! The staff are great and Blake is FANTASTIC!!
Brother and sister stayed a night here they paid a very fair price for the room. As well as affordable! Room clean as well as linens. Unfortunately the curtains would not close completely for 100 percent privacy.very happy with room and service recieved.i will be staying at this motel from now on when visiting Pocatello
The only place for real people to stay in Idaho falls. The owners Belinda and Tony put their hearts and souls into their motel. Assistant manager Chrissy (sp?) Is also awesome. Super clean! Really clean linens, towels, etc. There are picnic tables and bbqs. Fridge, microwave and coffee pot. There is one problem with staying here.. If you need to be anywhere in the morning,. Make sure you set multiple alarms because the beds are so comfortable you will not want to get up. Enjoy
Let's lay it out on the line. It's old and yet a young family has taken on the loving mission of fixing up this old beauty. You can see improvement s all over. The curtains may be old and yet the bed was so comfortable with new clean bedding. You get what you pay for and I feel we got a bit more than we paid for. The new fridge and microwave are also a big bonus. Now the staff they are also wonderful. Nice family, sweet house keeping staff.
Used to stay here at least twice a week, however, that was four years ago. I have traveled to Pocatello again finally, I had thought this was still a good place to staycleankept up and a motel paid 50.00 for a night.( Very fair.. for how nice it used to be) but not to pricey. It's..I can't even explain how horrible this motel is now(there are people living here as a haven't, drug users that we're asking to "Score" from me.I seen a no smoking sign on the door of my room but it smells so bad of smoke).. I'm saddened and disappointed. !!!!!
Very outdated but also super cheap. Not bad for 55 bucks. The room was clean, but had a odd odor.
Cool place for what it is really nice and friendly staff they allow pets and super cheap rates I'm definitely happy with it and it will be my go to place on the next trip good job thunderbird motel
Great place to stay and friendly staff. Management goes above and beyond to make sure customer service needs are met. I highly recommend this motel to anyone one that needs to stay .
Thunderbird Motel is a well managed motel. The new management is way better then before. The rooms are clean, and the staff here take pride, you can definitely see it. When I had a problem they fixed it real quick. The staff and housekeepers are awesome. Very nice people. I recommend anyone wanting to stay at a motel, should definitely come here. :)
Clean enough for the price, and the cops come around enough to feel safe. Plus the clientele is damn entertaining. I’d stay again as long as the Mrs. isn’t with me. No place to take a lady.
I was just visiting a friend who is staying there for the week. The room looked and smelled clean (non-smoking room). It had a TV, two beds, and a microwave, but not a fridge (apparently someone else had a fridge and was letting them store some stuff in it, but I don't know if it was another room or in a clubhouse). The hotel has two floors, with the rooms opening onto the parking lot (no inside hallway). A number of people had pets. The hotel is close to Idaho State University, Taco Bell, Subway, McDonald's, and a gas station. My friend said it wasn't a great neighborhood and that a bike and some drinks they'd put outside to get cold had been stolen.
The Motel was okay. The beds were decent and clean. The TV didn't work and only showed static. The temperature gauge on the A/C had been removed so it was always fairly cold. The area around the motel was a bit sketchy too and I was worried my vehicle would get broken into. Luckily the shower was clean and warm. I probably wouldn't stay here again however.
Much improved! Great Managers! Would love to have had a mini fridge and microwave. Or at least a common area where these could be utilized. Keep up the good work. Building 3 for a night or 2.
Stayed two nights, Friday & Sat before the eclipse for $53/night. No fridge or microwave (didn't ask) but nice helpful ladies at the desk. I was just grateful the place was there and they weren't trying to gouge people like all the other joints in town that weekend.
Keeping in mind that this is a very Old place, it is quiet, and clean.. Bed was ok, a/c worked well NO fridge, or microwave It's a good place to just come in and sleep.. OH, the staff was very, very sweet We won't come back here, but thank you
The office staff are very friendly and accommodating. They have reasonably low prices. The rooms are clean and have a home away from home feeling and atmosphere. I would recommend thunderbird motel to anyone, and I would definately stay there again.
We had a late night emergency and the night manager was very accommodating to our needs! Kind, polite, and professional! Would definitely come back
Not what I expected. There's no Fridge or microwave, room service barely comes once a week, outdated televisions, and the wifi sucks. It's a reasonable place if you're just looking to stay somewhere for a cheap price.
Laid back. Staff is friendly. Clean rooms. A alternative escape from a busy world.
The Thunderbird Motel is conveniently located in downtown Pocatello, blocks away from the ISU campus.
I like that you dont have to use your name, dont need an I.D. and it is located across the street from Pocatello's Cemetery.
Loved the guy that answered the phone when I booked he was really nice prices are great pet friendly and allow smoking
It's a 45.00 room! Need I say more. Both the sheets and bed spread had multiple cigarette burns in them. Room had a small fridge. Room was fairly clean. No shampoo provided. Beds had a noticeable 2 inch dip in the middle. It's pretty much what I would expect for the money! Nothing fancy. But like I said what do you really expect for the price!
