The overall experience was what you would expect from an upscale hotel. I found the staff to be very nice and professional. Artwork depicting exposed breasts, drug use, references to Satan being a friend, and further disturbing phrases and imagery adorned the area behind the bed (no, I am not kidding). Also, no refrigerator was provided aside from the stocked mini fridge. So you had to keep asking someone to bring a tiny container of ice to your room.
Lovely hotel and our room is fabulous, we’ve just come from Boston where we couldn’t swing a cat in the hotel room we stayed in so this is amazing. Very stylish, loads of space for our things. Oh and an amazing and huge walk in shower. We love it!
One thing I must say is that the bathrooms design is a bit strange, the beautiful glass walk in shower has clear glass between the shower and the commode. I would rather be looking at a well tiled wall then directly at the commode. If there are 2 guests and someone would like to use the commode in privacy while the other showers there is a breach in privacy.
Other then this the hotel is beautiful, service is great and employees are very helpful. The Valet parking is very prompt as well.
I stayed at the Thompson Chicago last week while in town for a conference and the experience truly exceeded my expectations. The staff from the entrance to the information desk to room service and car service were phenomenal-top notch service. I stayed in a corner room and it was very spacious and nice. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to stay at a very chic hotel with great service and a great location in Chicago!
Cool, chic vibe. Steps from sumptuous food choices, including the hotel restaurant, Nico’s. A bit pricey, but the location, amenities and a superb staff make it well worth the price. We will be back!
I stayed at the Thompson Chicago on my birthday April 7th my brother and I really enjoyed the hotel when I entered my room there was goodies left from me and a beautiful note wishing me a happy birthday that just made my day we had dinner at the House of Blues after that came back to Gibsons for a nightcap and the bed and mattresses was so comfortable I didn't want to get out then Saturday morning I will return to the Thompson Chicago
Lovely hotel, staff and rooms were spot on BUT (and I know this can never happen) you need more elevators! It took me 15 mins of waiting to get to my room as one of the 2 lifts didn't work.
Also I had possibly the worst breakfast in years outside at the hotel. Service was frankly awful and the food was actually terrible. Cold and tasteless but of course I did that quintessential English and paid without complaint.
Would I stay there again? Deffo I would
I stayed here for two nights while on a long road trip. It was my first visit to Chicago, and I couldn't have picked a better place. The room was great, the location was amazing, and the staff were incredible. Will definitely stay on a return visit and recommend to all my friends.
Thompson Chicago was absolutely fabulous! Employees were readily available for anything you need and made that known. We came to celebrate our tenth anniversary and they sent up a bottle of prosecco and snacks! How thoughtful! I was so thankful and excited! The junior suite was awesome. We were put in the balcony suite on the penthouse level and i was so appreciative. Everyone was extremely nice. The cocktails at the bar were FANTASTIC. We will definitely come back to stay here and i can't wait till we do!
Had an awesome stay this weekend. The staff was all great. Would highly recommend. The car service is also great and the driver Murphy was the best and the Alex at the front at check in was helpful and a pleasure to talk with. Thank to everyone there for a great experience
i have never felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome by a front desk staff until I checked into this hotel! this was by far the worst experience i have ever had! My friends and i arrived on Saturday afternoon and the two gentlemen at the front desk were very rude and very immature! finally after dealing with them we got up to our room and it was not a corner room like i had requested and i had called two different times upon arrival to make sure i had a corner room so i called down to the front desk and they said i had not requested a corner room and really there was nothing they could do about it so i just left it at that and just settled with that room the room was definitely not a very luxury room at all which was disappointing but i do have to say the doorman, room service, housekeeping and the older lady that worked the front desk on Saturday night were very nice! On Monday around 1 when we checked out we waited in the lobby for our car to pick us up and the lady we had not seen before was working the front desk with one of the guys that checked us in and they were looking and giggling at us like i said in the beginning this is by far the worst experience i have ever had and i have never felt so unwelcome!
My go to hotel. Best location, people watching, and top rate hotel. Walk literally out the door to the best restaurants, shopping, and nightlife.
Service in the restaurant (Nico?) was abysmal starting at the hotel for 3 nights room is fine. service condescending, sporadic at best, and just rude. Of course, when it was time to pay the check, they were swarming all over us.
Have you ever stayed at a hotel and everything from top to bottom was amazing?
I experienced the most amazing service and stay this weekend at The Thompson hotel in Chicago. I won't stay anywhere else when visiting Chicago-period.
Thank for your hospitality and making me feel like I was at home my entire stay.
My partner and I stayed at the Thompson Chicago for three nights and we are glad we did! The customer service is simply impeccable, from the staff at the front desk to the kind doorman. Everyone was so friendly! I will be booking again to this hotel next time I'm in Chicago. Great location, clean room and great staff! And they also give treats to the dogs passing by, which I find to be quite heart-warming!
Fantastic, from top to bottom! Exceptional service provided from everyone. One of the perks of a smaller property is that the employees all recognized us daily and were very genuine and personal. We will definitely return to beautiful Chicago and to the Thompson!
Great hotel. The staff is very accommodating. The location is in a gorgeous little neighborhood a block off Michigan Ave. The ambiance is amazing. Loved it!
My husband are I here staying in a deluxe river view. The bed is very comfortable and is what u need to recover from a long 15 hour flight . The view is limited but wasn't a great concern. No coffee facility which would have been appreciated. Room was quiet and clean.
Location is good .
Stayed here on one of those off-the-whim trips. The guys working here are the best. They'll do everything to help. But they lost a star for not having my room ready at check-in time. -marcc
Cute hotel but terrible staff.we prebooked a corner room and got here and got the smallest room and the check in people were very rude
