I am very much happy by renting at villages of monetary. I really appreciate the leasing office staff for being friendly and helpful.
I am pleasure working with senior manager Lynette B. & other leasing office staff (Tiffany,Mary, Genesis, Nikki). Thank you so much !!!!
I looked at this place and although I prefer central air and a little more space, I was all ready to sign a leaseuntil I saw the biggest ROACH in the bathtub! It was dead, but was as long as my THUMB! When I notified the leasing lady, she said, "Well, at least it's dead." Nope, nope, nope.I dont do bugs. Glad i saw it!!
I decided on a different place. I'm paying a little (ok, a LOT) more, but no bugs on the walk through, and they even cleared out the 2 daddy long leg spiders in my garage. I'm VERY happy where I am now!
I've been living in this apartments for a couple months, ans already had a couple issues with this apartments. The "renovated " apartments are nicer, but they did a crappy job just painting over and using old wood for the appliances. It is a "luxury " apartment complex, but it doesn't even have security. The little storage space they have is was super dirty and with insects. Every morning there is spider webs around, and they don't clean properly their green areas. The staff is really nice and always took care of little issues as broken staff around the house. The community areas are old, and they need to renovate the gym machines. Honestly I think is over priced for what they offer.
These apartments are far from luxury! I had such a good vibe moving in here but that went downhill literally a week after moving in! Everything I touched broke. LITERALLY! I have submitted 13 maintenance requests and I haven't even lived here a full year! It is not worth the price just don't make the same mistake I did by moving in here.
Pros:office staff is respectful to me
Cons: the quality of the unit is extremely poor
Management makes up rules not in the lease agreement and then threatens costs and fines against you. Management furthermore has never called me to notify me of the matter. I have been out of town and have not seen any notices on my door (I have notified management that I will be out of town). My concerned neighbors have been more than helpful in resolving my situation, unlike management. They are completely useless.
The complex is not safe. There are no gates, homeless people sleep behind the bushes on the property adjacent the high school (and people always jump the fence). Management got flashlight police which clearly does nothing. Vehicles get broken into all the time. The high school students get out of school and the parents park inside of the complex and wait for them, blocking all entrances and spots for residents.
Management also has favoritism issues. They have told my neighbors to take down bamboo privacy fencing on the balcony (after leaving it up for only one week). However, theres multiple people with privacy fencing on their balconies that has been up since I have been moved in (7 months ago) and no one has said anything to those people.
Don't bother with this complex. Its just a headache.
The icing on the cake:
The pool and fitness center majority of the time have children present, it does not matter what time of day (school or not). There is barely anytime to lay by the pool without kids screaming and slashing everywhere.
Niki was AMAZING. First off, I couldn't get approved for the apartment, but she spent quality time with me and gave me every option available to qualify. Despite not being able to move in, her customer service, attention to detail, and professionalism is something I wish my apartment complex had. Villages of Monterey-- wonderful gal you have there!
MILITARY WHATEVER YOU DONT RENT HERE!!!!!!!
They claim to be "luxury" apartments but they are far from it. We've had issues with pest (roaches, spiders, silver fishes). The problem with the roaches conveniently began right after I came home with my newborn son. And trust me I'm not talking about no little baby roaches they were the size of grasshopper. The always came from the drains in the bathroom never had any in the kitchen. We kept the lights on in the bathroom and kitchen to keep them from coming. They weren't really helpful other than telling me have someone spray and just deal with it. Also the spider issue was crazy! I'm talking about finding at least 3 everyday in the house (not small ones) Also from December through May all of the cold and rainy months we had issues with mold and leakage through the windows. It was beyond ridiculous that we were told that it was our fault and we should've just left the doors and windows open 24/7. Mind you I had a newborn baby at the time so windows open all day are obviously a no go. We had to take care of the mold ourselves with borax and white vinegar in order to try and keep our little one safe.
Honestly living here was the worst time of my life!!!! Please if you can avoid living do that!!! You will regret it I promise you.
Ive been living here for a few months and really enjoy it. The neighbors are quiet and peaceful. The staff is amazing. Landscaping and maintenance are always on top of everything. The location is very convenient (close to stores and the beach) and the price is reasonable.
The only negatives:
The high school is right next to the apartments and when school is out all of the parents pull into the complex to pick up their children. They block the parking spots and most of the road inside of the complex, extremely annoying.
The pool and fitness center majority of the time have children present, it does not matter what time of day (school or not). There is barely anytime to lay by the pool without kids screaming and slashing everywhere.
My husband and I had such an amazing experience here! The staff is fabulous and always go above and beyond to help us in any way. Any problems or questions that we had were always promptly addressed and taken care. Thank you for the great experience!!
I love living here because it is relaxing and Chelsea always helps me out with whatever I need. The maintenance staff and leasing staff are also really helpful every time I need something.
I have liked my stay here for the past 3 years. The neighbors are laid back. The ladies in the office are nice and help as much as they can within reason. You cant always get what you want.. Landscaping is amazing and its close to freeway and the beach. I always post online when I frequent establishments because I feel if you only post bad and never the good, then its not fair. I read these other reviews and SMH. I know other neighbors that live here and are happy. So, I figure everyone is different and have their own separate likes and dislikes.
I moved in to this property in Feb 2016, and needless to say it is far from a luxury apartment. I have a feeling that the staff in the office are at the mercy of larger corporate rules, as they have always been kind, polite and as helpful as they can in adverse situations. It often feels like their hands are literally tied.
Anyways
-Units are poorly sealed, expect a lot of ingress from bugs.
-Window security is terrible - they do not properly latch, and slight pressure from outside could unlatch the windows.
-Repairs to the unit are half-assed - loose towel bar? Lets screw that into the wall, straight through the bar.
-Holes in cabinets from a microwave mount that is no longer there fill with caulking.
-Unfinished internal cabinetry - bare wood. Cannot properly clean.
-Moisture issues in winter - as humidity cannot escape the unit. That is right - it cannot escape. The stove range hood is a recirculating fan, and the bathroom fan vents to nowhere. You heard me. It literally vents to nowhere. They have installed a tin box in the ceiling, wired it to spin a fan, and closed it with a cover. When you turn it on, it does not exhaust any humid air - it just makes noise. This is a problem. MOLD Also don't think this is a one off - we have been told by maintenance that all but 6 units on all 3 sites are exactly the same. When we noticed this and complained - our cover clip snapped (so old), and the result was that they screwed a new plastic fan into the ceiling.
-We have a humidity sensor on our clock, and rarely get below 65% unless we have all our windows open and fans on during a dry day. We run a small dehumidifier in our bathroom constantly, and remove 1-2 cups of water per day.
-Humidity builds up on windows, and if you don't notice - you will get mold. We did. When we called it in - we were told "Ours is not that bad, some units have to be repainted near the patios."
-When we moved our stove, it was filthy underneath. Gross filthy - like years worth - hands and knees scrubbing to clean it.
All in all, you get a pretty coat of paint, on a substandard unit - and you pay a premium for these so called Luxury Apartments. If you have allergies, expect this to be a problem. Mold comes in various forms, and some can be harmless. I have never suffered seasonal allergies - and I know that this is anecdotal - but I have been stuffed up and sneezing for the past 3 months as we have had the windows closed at night due to the cooler temperatures.
