A truly awesome place to have dinner. I've been there many times. In an old tavern building built in 1779. Two stories house the dining area with outside balconies and a beautiful patio area for eating when the weather or season permits. The food is outstanding. Great appetizers, salads and enters. Meals like fish, lamb, beef and foul all prepared expertly. A nice bar area on the first flour.
The food is absolutely amazing! My fiancè and I both ordered separate appetizers and entrees, but ended up sharing all the dishes because we loved everything we were served.
The decor is rustic, and adds a definite charm to the small interior that is cozy, but not quite cramped. The warm fire in the dining room was enjoyable, and enhanced the ambiance without being intrusive.
The bill was pricey, but worth it for the quality. Won't be going back often, but will definitely look forward to visiting on our next date night!
A wonderful place for an evening out! This historic tavern had the ambiance of a 1700s establishment. The food and service were great too!
This quaint little restaurant was spectacular. From the ambience, to our fantastic waiter Dwayne to the delicious food! You must goand enjoy! There were 10 of there for dinner. Not one of us had a bad meal.
Very nice atmosphere. Manager/owner made his way to our table and was genuinely interested if we liked our mealit was fantastic. Highly recommend this historic restaurant.
I accepted all of Dustin's recommendations from the Drft to the final course and was phenomenal. My wife's wine and dinner choice was also Fantastic. She had one of the German dishes.
We will be back next trip for sure. Thank you Dustin
Friendly people good times had here. Excellent food, attentive service, and unique atmosphere make this a must experience in Abingdon. I had the trout and my husband had the surf and turf. Both were exceptional.
Hands down best filet you can get anywhere! Everything is great. It's a little pricey, OK maybe more than a little for some but it is a great treat to go here and eat. Definitely worth it!
Absolutely fabulous experience! The ambiance was exceptional. Laid back rocking chair front porch watching the lazy river, old wooden floors with their perfect little creaks, private rooms beautifully decorated, and the morning coffee service at my room door were just a few of my favorite things. The meals were wonderful, and the staff was warm and inviting. Made me feel very welcome. Will definitely be back again!
Great food, great atmosphere great staff. Highly recommended!
The Tavern in Abingdon was a delightful experience. The food was delicious. Our waiter, Dwayne, was fantastic (friendly, professional, helpful, exuberant). We enjoyed the cooler evening dining on the covered porch overlooking the lovely courtyard. The restaurant has character. It's somewhere to celebrate a special evening out. It offered a varied menu, but we were interested in the German fare.
Love this place. Has been our anniversary date night for years. Stuffed filet is our favorite.
Used to be a destination for us. Quality of fooded seemed to drop as prices went up. I will give them another try soon and update my review, but be prepared to spend $100/2
Fantastic meal and amazing service. Great cocktails, superb duck and delicious chocolate peanut butter pie. What a great surprise in a small town on a Monday night. Do not miss The Tavern!
