A really nice hole-in-the-wall established for locals. It's not very popular with college students, but it is a great place for them to go.

Went for the Mad Elf beer tasting. It was super fun to be out with friends but it almost seemed like they had no idea what we were talkimg about when we asked about the beer tasting event that had a printed flyer and an ad on their website. Once we told them abiut their own event, things got a lot better. Love the glass and the mad elf selfie stick they sent us home with.

The Ruck has the best chicken wings and the best rotating draft beer selection in the capital district. The team is happy, outgoing and extremely good at what they do with a vast knowledge of not only the beer on tap, but the story behind it.

This place has reinvented itself several times and I feel like it's literally grown up with my generation (slightly post-millenial). Anyway, it was once a real dive, but now it's a wonderful place with amazing food and an impressive tap list that rotates very frequently. Wing sauce of the day is an awesome touch; their food specials in general are on point. Try getting something "Fat Kid Style!"

Are you a bro? Do you wear your visor upside down and backwards? Have your sunglasses ever been in the Guy Fiery position? (Backwards covering the fat rolls on the back of your neck) Then you would like this place. The food is adequate and the wings dare I say, worth mentioning, but then again how hard is it to drop a set of wings long enough to make them crispy. Having worked as a dishwasher, it's not hard to drop your wings to make them crispy, trust me, I know. This place has a long list of craft beers that are worth passing over. Some of those beers sound yummy and maybe even tantalizing, but when you weigh beer selection against quality The Ruck is found greatly wanting. Not every craft beer made is draft worthy, some beers, simply aren't worthy of a tap no matter how sophisticated the sound or cleverly they are made. Just because a beer can name off a laundry list of hops or can scheme up some rhyme of a name doesn't automatically quantify it as an adequate craft beer. The moment the Ruck can deliver a selection of beer that can satisfy the whole melange of tastes and flavors, they are a one hit wonder that only delivers one thing. The Ruck DELIVERS one thing, MEDIOCRITY. Too many craft choices with not enough range. Good job Ruckyou gave me a chalk board of options with nothing worth my money. I look forward to tasting your next attempt of range and tipping your bartenders zilch.

Always heard this place is races.. But myself and a couple of my Girl friends wanted to go out for some food and drinks after work So we decided to try somewhere in Troy We decided to go to the Ruck Even though we heard some bad things about this place. When we got to the door we were denied access immediately. They couldnt even give us proper reasoning we couldn't come in I was shocked.. We walked off and told them This is races The one guy in standing there says "yea we dont like blacks" and laughed I never felt so discriminated against This place will not get a dime of my money ever!!

Amazing beer selection and the wing burger is a must-have! Friendly staff who work hard to keep the bar wait short.
Edit: 8/12/17 You are no longer allowed to sit at tables unless you are getting table service. I have been coming to the bar for years with friends and it is no longer accommodating to just enjoying a pitcher with a large group. I always loved the relaxed atmosphere at The Ruck but the new uppity vibe is really killing it's appeal.response / report this review -

Great beer, friendly knowledgeable staff. Best wings, amazing burgers. Make sure you get their homemade blue cheese with the wings!

A cozy little bed-and-breakfast off the Hudson. Buster and I stopped in after a long day of sailing and they treated us to a cold beer and a warm curb to sleep on. 4/5 because my chicken wrap tasted like hot dogs

Came in for brunch. Didn't think much of the place at first. I ordered a omelet. It was extremely fluffy and had a lot of flavor. They make their corn beef hash by hand here and it was really good. I was very happy with the service and the food. The coffee is good as well. I would have to say this is like a diamond in the rough.

This place is a real gem. No dive bar I've been to comes even close in terms of beer selection, friendly staff, or food. Come in during the day for a nice lunch, or late at night for a bender -the ruck has it all!
