Wanted to bring a group of friends in for lunch next week. 12-14 people. Website was unhelpful in whether I could make a reservation or otherwise, how they could make it work. Sent an email from their website last week. No reply after 8 days. Called today and finally got a live voice on a phone ext selection unrelated to what I needed. Voice was unhelpful also. I understand we all have to arrive before we can go through food line (cafeteria-style), then pull some tables together--if there's room-- otherwise, wait until they are less busy. Guess this is not the place to go unless you are 4 people or less. They definitely need to improve website and their telephone contact interface.

I believe that they wanted this place to be a nice steak house, however they may have not been as popular of a restaurant, therefore they have divided it to a food Bazzar/ market of sort. I arrived here around 3.30, food outlets are closed till 5 pm. real loud music, bar is open. I love aviation and I just happened to see it, turned around. I had hopped for a classy joint, in hospitality industry for over 30 years, this still doesn't make sense. Love the view and the idea but not the execution. Hope owners, managers of this place see my review and with their replies enlighten me.

The worst food I've ever had. For $30 * tax, I would rate the overall experience as the worst ever at a restaurant, What type of place serves tater tots, pizza (cold) and unidentified mixed dishes. The salad was served in a small cup (requested two). The lettuce was soggy. I will never eat there again! Oh, did I mention noisy and absolutely lacking a pleasant dining experience.

I waited over 15 minutes just to place an order for food and then another 10 to get a drink - not the best first impression of an establishment. I understand that things can get a little busy but when there's staff just standing around not helping at all it's a bit annoying. Other than that the brisket sandwich was solid and there was a great selection of beers for happy hour. I'll definitely be giving it another shot. Hoping for a little more efficient staffing, and maybe some real silverware as opposed to disposable. Planes and view of the airport at sunset are great by the way.

First time here at the proud bird. We came for happy hour and had some food. He beef brisket was amazing so tender it fell apart before I could get it on the fork. Cool place for a drink if you are in the LA area and even need to kill a few hours. Must check it out. We live close and will definitely be back soon we had a good time!

I ONLY gave them 1 star for the building upgrade. I was so excited about the re-opening took my Mom for her birthday. I was so disappointed NOT what I was expecting. I'm a long time customer of the Original PB and had so many good times with family and friends. It was a staple in our community that will truly be missed. I'm sure that the people that help build the original PB will mostly feel the same way. IT HAS A BIG CORPORATION FEELINGIT NOT DESIGN FOR THE PEOPLE IN MY COMMUNITY or for that people that keep the PB open for so many years
Sunday brunch should be more relaxing and NOT feel like work the new design is to much work for me at a Sunday Brunch.

The only good thing I have to say about the new upgrade is the remodel of the building and the price. You might as well go to the food court at the mall and eat. We were long time customers of the Sunday brunch at the Proud Bird. The building had an upgrade but the brunch and the food had a down grade. We were very disappointed. It's fine if you like waiting in lines and very limited selections. This is not my understanding of Sunday brunch. So many things were taken off the menu and not enough to replace them. Sure it's all you can eat, but you have to stand in line after line and going to the bar every time you want a refill. Again, not my idea of Sunday brunch. No shading if you want to sit outside. Usually changes are made for the better but not in this case. We were not satisfied customers today and will not be returning.

Went here with my dad for lunch in Dec 2015. Food was good but service was a little slow (they seemed under-staffed). Guy at the carving station was helpful when the host/hostess was busy.
The atmosphere is 100% old-fashioned (dark wood, old chairs, etc). It's bright but definitely an out-of-date version of "classy". My dad (in his late 60s) saw it as upscale, but I saw it as old and out of date. So if that's the ambiance you're looking for, great. But don't expect something hip, trendy, etc., or even truly upscale with classical decor. They seem to have a large function hall right next door and a lot of function rooms near the main dining room. It's a little hard to find the right entrance and signage isn't very good (if there at all). Go to what looks like the front (nearest Aviation) and then go to your left and go in the furthest door. Go through the hallway, past the sign that says the DAR (or whatever) meeting is upstairs, and you'll reach the main dining room.
Despite that ambiance (which made me worry about how good the food would bethinking of episodes of Kitchen Nightmaresrestaurants with a gimmick and out-of-date decor), the food was REALLY GOOD. I had the salmon and thought it was great (at least much better than I expected from the look of the place). Had some of my dad's fries from his burger and they were good, too. So if you're a food-first person, you'll probably like this place. I wouldn't say the menu is progressive, but the salmon was done with a mango salsa of some sort that was good.
Of course the best thing about this place is getting to sit and watch the planes land. Don't forget to tour their airplane museum, too.
Staff were friendly.

As a pilot, I must love this place. There are fun displays, cool aviation memorabilia, and you can watch the planes land at LAX while you stuff your face! Its definitely a spot you should check out at least once, for the fun factor.
Sadly, I did have to knock off a star because the food was a bit below my expectations. While the bread was tasty, my salad was a tad wilted and the blue cheese dressing had the consistency of water. The steak I ordered rare, was rare from edge to edge (is, no seared exterior with marvelous rare interior Maybe this is normal for the type of meat?), and the mashed potatoes a little dry. But the veggies were great and the cheesecake delicious. My waiter was awesome, and the nice beer selection had tasty options.
End of the day.. Try it out at least onceand maybe again! Supporting local aviation related establishments is always a joy :)response / report this review -

Generally, the food's pretty good. The salmon dish is good and the portions are good for the money. Servers are attentive. Was there for happy hourgreat wild berry mojitos and a nice mix of folks. Nice atmosphere with the aviation history juxtaposed against clear views of incoming flights at LAX. Too bad the headphones which, I guess, are to let you hear airport radio traffic don't seem to work. If they did, it would have been a nice touch for the window seats.
Am surprised there's no photos here.well in light of the need to get nicer carpets, lighting, and to fix the headsets, it's understandable. But too bad, the food presents nicely.response / report this review -

Came to a retirement celebration in one of their banquet halls. Very clean and nice place. The food was excellent and service was up to par. Only downside is the lighting in this banquet hall. Seemed very dim and needs better lightening, but that is the only drawback. I do recommend this place to those that want to have a celebration party; though I would keep it in mind for the older adults because it is a bit old-fashioned. Great place nonetheless.
