Dark, but good drinks and cool Russian decor.

Thought it would be gimmicky but actually it was a ton of fun. Reasonable prices, pretty funny atmosphere, and dart boards. Get there early if you want a table though, it was packed to the brim all night.

Communist themed bar that serves food until 10pm. Cool kitschy posters and artwork, a great selection of New England beers and microbrews from around the world.

Super fun and authentic cross between a dive bar and an underground revolutionary hide-out. Great beers, friendly vibe, unique atmosphere.

This bar found a quirky concept and fully committed to it. Their eclectic communist-style decor is hilarious. Definitely worth visiting at least once for the "People's Republic of Cambridge" experience.

A dive bar that smells of stale beer can be fine, but the rude bartenders suck. I have been 4-5 times in the last 2 years because it is close to my house and near a friends place. It has a nice ambiance, but every time I have gone in, the bartenders have this attitude that makes me wish I was at the Plough and Stars up the street. The bartenders are not friendly, and even on a Monday seem annoyed if you ask any questions. The pours are small and over-priced.

Usually crowded at night and very little table space. But there's a dart board (surrounded by a barrier) and the decor of this place is quite Russian, indeed: intense and all red. Many options for drinks and there's this one bartender who makes a strong Moscow mule. The other guy, not so much, but they're all kind people. Btw: no cards, only cash. They have an ATM but still kind of a minor annoyance.

I've never been anywhere quite like this. If you are from the Boston area you may have heard Cambridge Ma referred to as its own Republic. Granting credence to this characterization for this left leaning land, The Rebublik is where the revolution starts. Playing off of the ideals socialist ideals which the USSR espoused (if very poorly implemented), this bar looks and feels like you've entered one of those old Stalin propaganda posters. Located between Harvard Sq and Central Sq, you're halfway between two of Cambridge's cultural centers and its a great pit-stop on your walk between the two.

Bar is simple and effective. Communist approved. Russian-themed with no windows to see out of (great for sneaking lunch beers). As a proud Polish-American, I still enjoy going here. I recommend going here between 9pm - 11pm before you go out dancing in Central. It gets pretty sloppy after that. It is certainly a low-judgement zone. They are cash only just so you know. They keep the temperature way too cold in the summer and way too hot in the winter, so it is a bit strange that way, but I like it. It would be nice to see some non-six-pack beers on tap. I get sick of paying 6.50 for a Rogue Dead Guy every time I go there. I'd rather pay 7.50 for a beer that usually comes in a bomber than 6.50 for a beer that comes in a 6 pack but I suppose that isn't their target audience.
