It is awful how a once great place to stay and eat has been let go so bad. I guess it is closed now. So sad.
Comfortable rooms and beds, good people, older style. It might not be bad for everyone, but old televisions and no WiFi. Otherwise it was a pretty good stay.
On Yoke Inn is a charming, rural restaurant & motel nestled at the base of the Allegheny mountains on the famed Route 6 in Galeton, Potter County PA. The food is good, honestly fare. The rooms are clean and well appointed. There's also an ice cream shop right on Rt 6 for passers-by. I highly recommend stopping in!
I worked all day and they left the room unlocked because I would be so late which was nice. But it was 90 degrees and there was no fan or AC on in the room (the A/C unit was a windows one, but installed in the closet in the room?), there was NO SHAMPOO IN THE ROOM. No ice machine, no fridge in room. They don't offer it. Maybe if I asked? But there was no one to ask, when I checked in or out. I got there late so I didn't expect anyone but still no one when I left. I didn't get to tell you in person so I'll tell you here. It was too expensive for what I got, I won't be back.
The owners are an amazing couple. Don't expect 5 star accommodations. But if you want a place to stay, with friendly people and right on the bank of Pine Creek this is the place. Short drive away from the darkest place on the east coast. Food in the diner is good and the ice cream shop is great!
And if you are a biker this is definitely your spot! The owners both ride and frequently host LARGE groups of bikers!
My husband and I have been going to the ox yoke for many years. We have enjoyed ourselves every time we have gone. Ken and Megan are the best people I have to say that I know there. They do a great job with such a large place to look after. Yes the ox yoke Inn is very old the bat is the charm. It's just so beautiful there. I hope that I can go to the ox yoke for many more years. If you are a bike rider this is the place to go.
We have stayed here on 3 different occasions. Groups of us have ridden our bikes down to this area for a few years now. Ken and Megan are the owners and are very friendly and always willing to help with anything you might need. This is a motel that does not offer a lot of amenities, but it has always been clean and comfy. They do cater to a lot of motorcycle riders which for us is perfect. The restaurant is very good and reasonably priced. This area is beautiful to ride in and I am sure we will be back and stay again next year.
