The Hop is now closed indefinitely, with rumors that it will reopen at some point. If we're lucky, that will happen. This restaurant is so good I'm almost willing to come up to Beacon from New York City just to go here. Great beers, amazing food, fun vibe. Often filled with a bunch of out-of-towners attending weddings across the street at The Roundhouse.

Amazing. The food was amazing and the beer selection is amazing. It was unique blend of styles of food, beer, decor was an amazing experience to enjoy with my family and friends. I am shocked that's it is closed. Please open soon. My wife and I want to go there this week for our anniversary.

Friendly servers. Check the board for what's on draft when you walk in. Ordered a fish and chips and got a big piece of Cod. You need to eat it with a fork and knife. Asked my server, "do you have old bay? Is that a thing up here?" Her reply "I know what that is." Ran to the back and got some. Perfect with their fries. Really enjoyed the cider on tap. Popular with locals and right across the street from a destination "event place." Stop in, if you are in town.

Edit: This was previously a 5 star review but I am reevaluating after a terrible experience.

We sat down at 6:30, left close to 8:45, and our waiter talked to us a total of four times. We had to complain to the manager on three separate occasions to get someone to come and take our food orders and drink orders. At one point we just went up to the bar and ordered because our waiter was obviously not competent enough to relay the message the 10 feet from our table to the bar. Literally 10 feet.

The table next to us sat down at 6:45 and left before we even started our meal.

And the manager didn't seem to care at all. We didn't ask for anything free, we just wanted to eat and drink. Each time he would "apologize", offer up an excuse, and then proceed to do absolutely nothing about it.

I ordered Almonds and Olives as an appetizer to my medium burger. From the time I ordered to the time any food was delivered was 35 minutes. Fine, that's not good but it's not horrible except my appetizer arrived with my entree and my burger was well done. It was dry! Now I know what took so long, they were busy over cooking my burger.

Someone at our table actually wanted to amend their order to include an order of tater tots but she quite literally never had the opportunity. From the time our order was taken until the time our food was delivered our waiter did not check in with us. We had to go to the manager and/or the bar to order ANYTHING.

    Absolutely positively dreadful.

    Old review:

I looked for months and months to find the Kentucky Bourbon Stout and these guys had it on tap! Great tap selection.

They are quite proud of their food and it is priced as such so I usually just go for drinks but the quality and taste of the food is outstanding.

I came here for dinner since I was visiting friends who live in Beacon and they recommended this place. The place was like most of the places in Beacon - serving craft beer and locally sourced dishes. Their craft beer selection is extensive. I ordered a ginger and citrus cider (Nine Pinny Ginger) that had great ginger flavor and tasted great. I also ordered the lamb with wild mushroom risotto, pine nuts, and pea tendrils. It was tasty and fresh. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the pine nuts made it a little more interesting. The service was great, attentive and friendly. If I'm ever back in Beacon, I'll come back and try their other dishes.
