Best cocktail bar in NYC.
The downstairs portion has a drink menu that you would never be able to get through in a year if going there. Their beer + shot menu is amazing, as is their grog.
The food is amazing for a tap room. The cheese plate and bar snacks are worth every penny.
The cocktail room is beyond fancy, and the staff could not be more professional and courteous. Every drink I had was prepared with expertise to absolute perfection.
I heat the upstairs has a killer whiskey menu as well.
As advertised, one of the best bars in the world. Great food too. Love the curried lamb, shepherd's pie, and braised rabbit. Make sure to finish with some Irish coffee -- the best I've ever had! (And a great staff/bartenders, as well.) Excellent craic!
Awarded the best bar in the world (not sure by whom but they may well be right!) The place was brimming with people. Had to wait for about 70 minutes before we had a table to sit and eat. You can wait in the bar area but be ready to jostle with many more people waiting. They have amazing cocktails to choose from. Don't fill yourself up because upstairs dining area has even more options. Food is amazing. Try their pork belly mini burgers. Overall a great experience. Nice crowd.
The first time I came to the Grog I met the bartender Annie. Our brunch experience was so stupendous that we came back for a late night drink. So when I'm in the area, I love coming back.
This last trip was very different. We came after a teaching conference I brought 2 coworkers. Installed up the Dead Rabbit so much that they didn't mind several blocks we had to walk over. We couldn't find a place to sit nor stand on any of the 3 floors for a party of 3. One of my coworkers decided to leave, so we were a party of 2. After the debacle of being seated was over, our waitress waited for more than 15 min to take our order, even after taking and delivering the orders of parties who were seated after us. Although the drinks were great (as always) we were not treated like guests, or even speciallike Annie made sure we did.
I'll definitely call ahead of I decide to chance it again.
One of the best cocktails. The Taproom is quick but has limited variety of cocktails. Go to upstairs in the Parlor. You may have to wait long to for parlor as they do not take reservations and they have first come first serve policy. Great drinks, nice service and friendly staff.
If it is your first time they will give you a nice introduction about the place, name and drinks. Loved Stowaway from Sharp menu and Paradise Square from Ambitious(if you like a bit bitter and hot). The service was great. They were not able to make one of the drink I asked as they ran out of few ingredients and they gave me next drink on house.
The food was ok but I will definitely go back for drinks.
My mum came to America to meet up with me, and she was desperate to try this bar because it had just been named best in the world. Also, being Irish we wanted to see if the food was up to scratch. I was certainly not disappointed with the stew and even my boyfriend who is terrified of gravy enjoyed it. The menu was beautifully designed in a historical, graphic novel style and there were a multitude of cocktails to choose from. Our server was super knowledgeable though and was able to describe all the drinks, how they were made and, based on our tastes, drinks he would recommend for us. We all tried different flavours and I was also given a complimentary drink when my glass came with a crack.
Nice vibe, small and cozy. I can see why the ratings are so high just based soley on atmosphere. We enjoyed our cocktails, and they have English ginger beer, so can enjoy without consuming High Fructose corn syrup as per USA style soft drinks.
Truly the best bar. I love going here so much anytime I am in the city. If you go during the day it is less crowded and feels like you are in Ireland. Their truffle fries are AMAZING and their lobster deviled eggs are also so great.of course the cocktails are the best.
This place is so cool.
First floor is a tap room. If you just want to down beer and chill with your buds and have. OR - second floor parlor serving small bites and outstanding crafted cocktails.
It has a very different feel to it, you don't get that anywhere else. 5 stars for everything.
Respect for Authenticity.
Cheers
Came in here for lunch with my team to welcome our new colleague. We went upstairs to the Parlor. I had the Chicken Pot Pie which looked and felt homemade with love. The crust was perfect. I would have liked some sauce in the pot pie. The hearty mixture was good but a saucy mix would have pushed it to the top. It was paired with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy but that felt unnecessary since the pot pie had cubed potatoes in it. They can definitely serve the pot pie solo, center of the plate! I went during lunch so I can't speak on the drinks. At the end of our meal it took a little time to find our server to get our check but otherwise it was quite enjoyable.
Overall, the location was clean, servers were courteous, food was delicious and filling.
Lived up to the reputation for great drinks served by experienced bar staff in a great bar. Being from Northern Ireland we had heard a lot about the DR and we weren't disappointed. Very busy bar. Reasonably drinks prices given the location. Worth the trip when down that end of Manhattan. We walked there after visiting the One World Observatory. Staff were great too. $$
Visited your establishment for the first time on 4/7/17 for a very special occasion. To celebrate the nuptials of my very good friends, Ryan and Angelica! Let me say that you folks did a fantastic job. The drinks were incredible and the servers were probably the friendliest in all of NYC! The menu was finger foods: Super beef sliders, Lamb Sliders, scotch quail eggs, curry chicken salad finger sandwiches, tomato and mozzarella skewers and much, much more. Everyone got a near endless supply of French fries with truffle oil at every table and it seemed that the food never ran out. The drinks were amazing. I started with Gallup Mags ( DR version of G&T) but after many whiskey toasts, decided to switch to the Battle Annie ( Powers Whiskey, Connemara Peated Whiskey and Blenheim Ginger Ale). They were amazing!! What a great time, and I'm so glad my friends could celebrate their special day in such a fine establishment!!! If you are in NYC, you owe yourself a visit to the Dead Rabbit, but be forewarned, it's going to be crowded, what else would you expect from the "Best Bar in America 2016"!
Was a little tender from our first night in new York and decided to look for somewhere we could grab a breakfast and hair of the dog. We were greeted by Annie, a lovely wee lady from Belfast who made us feel right at home from the get go. The attention to detail in this bar and the decor is quite awe inspiring. The food was great and it was priced averagely for the area. We met a lovely guy Paul at the bar too and had a wee blether with him and Annie for a bit. Cab understand why this bar gets all the credit it does and I can't praise Annie or the pub enough. A great experience and a place I'll be recommending to anyone willing to listen.

If you come in expecting a loud, cramped irish pub full of character and whiskey, you're in the right place. The pints are reasonable($8-9) for the area and the beer/whiskey selection is impressive. There's a small but clean unisex bathroom in the back. Great for a visit and a few drinks, but not a great place for groups or long visits.
I really enjoyed it and look forward to my next visit, but I wouldn't recommend it for a group of more than 4, or any other meal but a late lunch
Pop in the ground floor for a quick beer or the third floor for a bite, but that's not where this place is famous for. Ask to be seated in the cocktail lounge on the second floor. There's almost always a waiting list, but you'll get a buzzer.
The cocktail lounge serves a wide variety of truly unique and wonderful cocktails, and the menu is a beautiful comic book. The drinks follow the story and change once every few months.
Beautiful decor, comfortable seating, friendly staff, expensive as hell.
Highly recommended!
