We had a very large family party with kids so we talked to the manager before we arrived to be sure they could accomodate us at 6pm. He said let me check and then texted us saying yes. When we got there at 6pm, we were told 20 more minutes. We asked again in 20 minutes and were told 45 more minutes. When we talked about our reservation, they said they didn't take reservations. When we showed the receptionist the managers text, they finally said they would try to seat us in 30 more minutes. They really didn't seem to care. Their steam pots were not steaming and they brought a shucking knife for you to shuck your own oysters (a real safety problem since they didn't provide a shucking clove). The broiled seafood platter was good.

The food was okay. I thought that it was reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. I did not like that there were cats everywhere. Somebody is clearly feeding them.

We went here over the July 4th weekend. We got the fried clams - light, not greasy, fresh - best we ever had! Great view on patio overlooking the water. Musician played summer and 70/80's music. Fantastic place for dinner and drinks

Our waitress was nice and quick to assist. The food came out fast as did our drinks. Their She Crab Soup is the best in SC! I ordered the Low Country Boil and everything was cooked to perfection!

It's been said that competition breeds excellence and I fear that The Crazy Crab in Harbour Town is suffering from a lack of competition. Because it's one of only 3 restaurants there, it's always packed. As a result, there isn't much incentive for them to deliver a quality experience. I've been twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner, and have been underwhelmed both times.
Tonight I ordered the 1/2 lb. shrimp low-country boil. It tasted as if they had simply boiled the ingredients together in water and then dashed it with Old Bay as they were plating it. My half cob of corn only had half its kernels on it. If my math is correct, that makes it 1/4 of a piece of corn. There was plenty of shrimp, maybe 20 or so, but it was limp and bland.
My wife, who doesn't like seafood, was forced to order the grilled chicken breast. Why go to a seafood restaurant when you don't like seafood? See the first paragraph. They slapped a piece of deli cheese on the top of it and brought it out in this gummy half-melted state. She did her best to eat half of it, but a girl can only take so much.
Midway through dinner--and I promise I'm not making this up--a roach more than an inch in length climbed up the wall next to our table. We shouldn't have been surprised, to be honest, given the grimy state of the restaurant.
This delightful dinner for two set me back $48, including the mandatory 18% gratuity added because of our group size. No alcohol and we ordered the cheapest entrees on the menu, so an average dinner would probably run more like $60.
Harbour Town is a lot of fun. The music, the boats, the lighthouse, etc. makes for a nice evening. I'd encourage you to find a nice restaurant elsewhere on the Island then head there for dessert. In my opinion, you'd be crazy to eat here.response / report this review -

We didn't get to have an experience at the restaurant because it was so poorly managed. We arrived at the restaurant and were told that there was a 30 minute wait. We asked if we could sit in the bar but the host told us a firm "no." We put our name in the system and they informed us we would receive a text when a table was ready. 50 minutes later we returned to the restaurant and there was still a while until we would be seated. Again, we asked the new hostess if we could sit in the bar and she told us "yes." After sitting for a few minutes and realizing the sole bartender was never going to get to all 7 tables in the bar we returned to the host stand where she was seating people who had just walked in. Needless to say, we will not be returning here.

My wife, kids and I decided to go here as we are staying not to far away. Walking in it seems nice however are evening became anything but. The waitress was very inattentive even though she stood 7 feet away at the register. There was a period during our evening where I sat with an empty glass for 15 minutes even though there were very few people in the restaurant. Once our food came my wife bit into her Carolina Chicken only to pull a rubber band out of her mouth. After 20 minutes the manager came over and told us the rubber band came off of the broccoli even though none of my family had broccoli. The experience was overall sub-par compared to the price and portions. We will definitely be avoiding this place in the future.

This place is nothing like it used to be. Don't waste your money here. Oysters and clams left much to be desired. Nothing has any flavor. The bread and even the hush puppies were no good. Not sure if this place is under new management, but the quality is not there any longer.
