The staff went above and beyond. The home is stunning. The amenities are thoughtful. This place is AMAZING. I cannot stress that enough. We are world travelers and definitely found this to be one of our favorites. A total reset for the senses. Just beautiful.
My wife and I were here for our Anniversary. Super friendly staff that made sure we had everything/anything we wanted. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable; wait staff great, food wonderful, and the butler was first class. We'll be back and will bring others. Oh yea, don't miss the Sunday brunch!
They had me at ‘unlimited Champagne and eggs benedict’!
My best friend and I celebrated the beginning of my birthday with brunch at Baker House. Our server was charming and delightful, the brunch selection was lovely and the ambiance is perfect! My favorite part? Picking out a hat (or many as we chose to do) to wear during our visit! A great way to start your day.
Whet to the wonderful Saturday tea at the Baker House. Worth doing! Loved it
Fantastic food at great prices. Sure they are higher than some, but the food quality is excellent and so is the chefs execution. Dinner is much better than the brunch as an fyi
Gorgeous Victorian. Beautiful view of ocean. Amazing cocktail garden area but unfortunately the restaurant/bar area was closed during the day. Has 4 hotel rooms above and some staff around during the day. No tour available so looked around ourselves. Sunroom area has great views. Few cabanas outside in the front garden.
This was the best experience my wife and I have ever had at a hotel or B&B of any kind. It's not like we've sampled the world's finest establishments or anything, but I have a hard time imagining this level of pampering being offered anywhere else. They watched for us as we drove up, so that before we were out of our car there was someone out the door greeting us. Complimentary champagne was offered multiple times for various reasons. As guests we were given free access to the murder mystery cocktail party on Saturday night, a discounted deck table for the decadent champagne brunch (easily the swankiest brunch buffet we've ever seen), great concierge service, access to a private upper floor with a beautiful lake-facing sun parlor, the right to have coffee, tea, water, alcohol, breakfast (homemade croissants are divine), etc. delivered to you wherever you are in the house, and near complete privacy when the hotel costs to the public. This last point was the most important to me. The Baker House is no longer a restaurant, so it's only open as a bar, for brunch, and for tours of the first floor. When it closes, the only people present are some staff and the occupants of the 4 rooms on the second floor, and it actually feels like this decadent mansion is your own for a time. You can lounge around in the various rooms, play with the dozens of games and hats (the house is filled with unique hats to try on), read the books stacked everywhere and admire the antiques as if you're right at home. One of our favorite experiences was getting the entire bar (in fact, the entire lower level) to ourselves for an hour at night, chatting in the dim light with soft jazz in the background. It was like being in a scene from a noir film. We stayed in the Champagne Room, which boasted a fireplace and a shower that blasts you from 6 directions, among other things. Also, it seems like every single staff member knows your name and your occasion, which is great. Also, the mansion is next to the lake, which is absolutely gorgeous and offers a great number of possible daytime activities, my favorite being extensive shoreside "trails" which literally wind through the yards, across the docks, and between the structures of the largest and most luxurious lakeside mansions I've seen.
Everything about this place is beautiful. I loved just exploring the house to see what kinds of treasures were hidden in each room. The staff are so attentive they make it feel like you're the only guest staying here. We felt so at home here, it was amazing!
Great atmosphere.. great service... great drinks!! Nice views of the lake.
I consider myself a food snob of the highest order, my foodie gene runs deep and I have standards well beyond my own means. The Sunday Brunch at Baker House leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. There is not a single solitary improvement that could be made. So much genuine care and attention is given to every detail from the decorum to the service. But the most outstanding aspect is the food itself; an absolutely decadent spread, everything home-made, not so much as an english muffin that was bought in from the supermarket.
The Baker House was absolutely beautiful! The staff was incredible and took great care of us! The room was amazing, comfortable, and cozy. We loved the fireplace! The breakfast croissants and fruit were perfect. We highly recommend staying here!!
