People were helpful and friendly, gentlemen who did our paperwork and the lady at check in were nice. Facility is basic and parking sufficient. Unfortunately have to wait a month for a driver's test but other than that it is a competent government facility.
He had an appointment for a driver test and the wait line in the front was 15 minutes, plus the car wait line was 1 hr and 45 minutes. Then the older lady told us to get off the car (only the test driver would be in the car), she went inside and came back out after 15 minutes to finally start the test. The test took about 5 minutes or even less!!! I've never had such a bad experience with timing on an office like this. They have a system to make them organized but I would expect it would make everything go smoother and faster but no. If you can avoid this place it'd be better.
Clean and organized place. Waited about 2 hours but it was due to the systems being down. Had the pleasure of getting Lauren she was very polite and quick. Overall best experience I've had at any DMV.
Great experience. Was in and out in 15-20 minutes. Really. Did a license renewal yesterday. Downloaded the application PDF online and filled it out ahead of time. Also did the online check in. This is a must. Got there 10 minutes before my assigned time. They called my number on time and I was done about 5 minutes after that. This was on a Thursday around 3:00 and the place seemed about 80% full. I've heard Fridays are bad.
Both times I've been to this location I've had a great experience. VERY minimal wait times..no more than 10 minutes both times.once was at the end of the day when they were closing & they still let us come in & the other was at 9am & they were extremely busy, but we still didn't have to wait long. Both times the staff was very friendly, quick & efficient. The last time we went for my daughter to take her driving test, the employee was so sweet & told her not to be nervous, to be confident & gave her a few tips on what to do.which I wish they would've done the same thing for my son when he took his test at the Lake Worth location b/c the tips she gave her were some of the little nit picky things he didn't do that caused him to fail..the Lake Worth location is AWFUL! So is the Hurst location..every time I've gone to both of those other locations I've had to wait forever, or their system was down indefinitely & most of the staff was just flat out rude; I prefer this location over both those others, this one is much better all around by far!!
This is one of the most ill-ran offices that I've ever been to. I have now been up there 4 times (waited 2hrs each time) only for one of the workers to tell me that one of my forms/documents isn't accepted to use in getting my daughters learners permit. So after I obtain the requested form/document that they say that I need, I take it back only for a different worker to tell me that they don't accept that form and that they aren't sure why the previous person told me to bring it and that I now need this other form/document. No one seems to know what they are doing! I attempted, once again to go up there today (side note:I have tried to check in online every time and it always says "no times available") and they refused to verify my documents when I got there. After waiting for 2hrs someone comes out and says that they will start verifying documents for people. After waiting in another line for 15min, the lady looks at my documents and now tells me that they won't accept the very document they asked me to get. She said "oh yeah they expire after 30 days". No one thought to mention that? I have been trying to get this permit since Aug 1st!
I've taken off work 4 times and my kids have missed school to get, what should be an easy thing done, only to be jerked around by these untrained workers. It's absurd to have people sitting there waiting for over 2 hrs. Hire more people! Train them! Buy more chairs so people don't have to stand the whole time!
I don't know if it's just the Brentwood Stair location that is this horrible or if they all operate like this, but this has been such an awful and extremely aggravating experience dealing with them. I would give them zero stars if I could.
This place was the only one that had openings when I went. I missed my appointment because I didn't know I had to redo paper work that was expired. I missed my number being called so my luck was bad that day.
I was told to come back at 1 and see if they would accept walks ins for the test and thankfully they did.
The person that was with me during my test drive was amazing she was so nice. Even though I couldn't parallel park to save my life or anyone else's. 😂 I had a great experience with this location unlike the Hurst one.
Awful. Awful. I really believe these people get a kick out of ruining people's days. They are all ignorant, uneducated, miserable people and this is their only sense of power. They have no problem laughing and smiling at a 16 year old excited child and telling them, "no" all over a piece of paper signed on the wrong line. This is after a 3+ hour wait. Why don't they have one employee checking to see if people have the documents done properly BEFORE they ask people to wait 3-4 hours. Yuck. Nasty, nasty people. I honestly do not know how they sleep at night.
It was a very frustrating experience. I went in had a scheduled driving test. I failed the car inspection because the third brake light was out. The lady said it was fine to just get it taken care of and come back. I even asked her if she was sure, because I knew others had their appointments as well. She insisted. So I came back they didn't accept walk ins. I explained to them my situation and what the lady told me. They had an attitude about it and said I couldn't take it. I was disappointed to say the least.
This location was large, clean, and organized. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. I did end up waiting a lot longer than I thought based on some of the reviews I read (I waited over 3 hours), but overall it wasn't too surprising that I had to wait. All the necessary documentation is laid out online for getting a Texas license when you have an out-of-state license, so make sure to look over the requirements and bring multiple types of documentation in case you need it!
Fastest ever to get a replacement license. I will definitely come back to this one even though it's not close to home. They were very well organized! I came in less than 30 minutes before closing and got out before they closed. I waited for maybe five minutes - if that.
This was my first time in this location everyone was very helpful I was in and out in less then 30 min. I want to thank William in booth 8 who was a very nice gentlemen.
I didn't have a problem with the Staff, I had a problem with their helpfulness. I was coming from another state and instead of being guided, you have to guess what you need through their kiosk system. After waiting over an hour, you finally get called to find out you've been waiting in the "wrong line." (whatever that means. There should be just one line and everyone helped one by one by the next available employee instead of certain employees only handling certain task but I digress) Then when I am put in the correct line, it's a longer wait and I am told I am missing documentation. So I go retrieve the documentation needed and when I return, I am told I had to register my vehicle else where, before I get my license. Should have told me that the first time I left. Go register my vehicle, and upon returning and waiting again (mind you 8 hours of the day has already gone by) I am told I need additional proof of identity (since my out of state license, renters insurance, utility bills, social security card, and current pay stub aren't enough). All this extra documentation that is needed is stupid but it is what it is. My problem is, this ALL should have been spelled out before I left THE FIRST TIME. Having to leave and comeback with one item at a time is just plain ridiculous.
Worst. Experience. Ever. getting a driver's license. I moved from another state and collected all necessary documents. All total spent 5.5 hours in this miserable place. Got there before 7:30 and "got in line online" as soon as it opened. 25 people in front of me. Took an hour. Found out I needed my marriage certificate as I was considered a name change even though all my documents had my married name on them - got married 12 years ago (ss card, drivers license from another state, etc.) Nightmare of coming back, getting back in line, etc. continued thoughout the day.
I have lived in multiple states, spent a year living and traveling though Africa, a summer traveling through Central America, and not one immigration, visa, customs experience compares to this.
Would have been easier to have moved back out of this state than to get a license here. Which frankly is what I would like to do after witnessing the abysmal way this place is run.
When visiting a government office, you expect to have a long wait and for employees to act like they don't want to be there but this place is on a whole other level. I brought my daughter to get her permit. We waited approximately 2.5 hours to be seen and during that time, I tried to speak with the customer service reps at the front to make sure I had the proper documentation before we sat down with the person who would be issuing my daughter's permit. They were extremely unfriendly and impatient, not just with me, but with others as well. They made me very uncomfortable and gave me the wrong info. By the time I got to the employee that was handling the permit, the man was extremely rude and made sure we knew he was upset. He was dismissive and mean. Because no one would help me during the 2 hours I was waiting, I didn't have the proper paperwork and he made me and my daughter feel unwelcome and extremely nervous. If I thought it would do any good, I would've tried to get him fired. I took my other daughter to a different location in a neighboring city and they were much more professional and courteous. Will not do business with again and I hope the person I dealt with loses his job
