Food is always good quality, quick, and inexpensive. I love the pannukakku. The staff are always friendly and the wait usually isn't too long. It can get pretty busy on Sunday mornings - lots of people come here after church.

It offers an excellent view of the hillside across the canal, and it's interior in comfortable. The service is fast and friendly.
It's breads and baked goods are popular, all of which are made on site.
It's know for it's top-quality pasties(meat and vegetables wrapped in a savory crust, originally from Finland).

Very friendly, fast service. They serve Finnish items and American type breakfast foods. They have a warm custardy pancake that is good with warm raspberry sauce.

Just your simple small town breakfast place with gourmet quality foods. The service is spectacular, although it's almost always at capacity so be prepared for a little wait. Very fair prices for generous portions

It is surprising to me that this place has such a high rating. They must be doing something right, but damned if I know what it is. The service is okay, they get credit for that, but the food is very much like cafeteria food. You would be familiar with the style from high school, hospitals, or jail/prison. Twice I tried the Hot Beef Sandwich, just trying to be fair because everyone has an off day. You get two thin slices of bread, a few pieces of gray, gamey beef, and about 3 pounds of mashed potatoes. No seasoning, but drowned in brown gravy from a can. What the f yo? I can do better cleaning out the pantry. Also, for a place with "bakery" in the name I expect a lot more than a tiny little selection below the cash register. Go to Roy's Bakery instead and thank me later. Unless you're 80 years old, in which case congrats on using the internet and enjoy your nursing home food.

This place was a great stop for lunch (all day breakfast, I'm there). The interior is very simple, but has historic, local photos all over the walls which speak to the history of the town and the restaurant. The food was great! As mentioned, our group ordered breakfast, but we also tried their pasties, which were awesome! The breakfast was great too, pancakes, french toast, and bacon all had good flavor and a homemade look. You gotta give this place a try, it highlights all the best parts of a small diner/cafe.

The place is packed with folks wanting some good Finnish eats. There are seating areas that one would never expect. All crannies are filled with tables and folks. They have bakery products as well. The food is great and the prices can't be beat. If you are looking for something completely different in a way of breakfast or burgers for lunch I highly recommend the place.

This is a great little quaint restaurant and bakery in Houghton. I've eaten here twice and both times were amazing. The atmosphere is like a small cafe, but the food they serve is beyond that. The Finnish influence on the menu gives a new experience. Everything I have had there was great. The cinnamon Nisu toast is the best;)
