Great fun, right on the creek and you can hear the falls at night as you lay in your camper falling asleep.
Nice playground, great camp store, good game room but we didn't use it, just looked. We were there the last weekend of the season and didn't do any group events or spend as much time in the creek BUT we will next time because we're definitely going back! Better than average bathrooms, VERY clean, cleaned at least once a day (@2 ish?). No spiders in the stalls, can take a comfortable poop if needed ;) Showers are a quarter for 4 minutes of *perfect* temperature water. I'm apparently a 6 minute shower guy so I stood there enjoying the last steamy goodness for an extra 2 minutes. The owner couple are very nice, the woman especially so, she was so very nice to our daughter and gave her a little surprise. Can't wait to go back and we definitely will be!
I've been coming to campground since I was kid, like my father before me. I've been and still is a seasonal here for years now, lost count how many.
I am proud and hard working employee here as well, I started way back in 2013 as community service, helping the new owners, this year 2017 is my fifth year working for the new owners I love it. They are the best bosses I could ever ask for :)
We love it here. Owners are super nice and accommodating and try to have activities going for the kids. Hiking along the Glenn is absolutely beautiful. The playground kept the kids busy for hours. We'll be returning again soon!
Just went this past weekend to creek walk now that Stoney Brook is fining people. It's AWESOME and the owners are the nicest people!! My kids can't wait to go back and camp here. My new favorite spot.
Can't wait to come back!
Not sure where to start here, whether with the contagious positivity of the very happy couple who owns the camp, to their extreme generosity in helping to heal my wife's badly burned hand, to giving our kids coloring books and providing special activities for them to do.
As if this wasn't enough after a 5 Hour drive from Saratoga, the land on which this campsite sits is simply breathtaking. Multiple levels of cascading waterfalls await you, each with its own distinct and special swimming hole (yes I tried all of them).
Although none of the falls are terribly high, you could easily feel as though you've been transported to somewhere more reminiscent of South America, than Western New York.
We stayed three nights in one of the cabins on the property and found it to be very comfortable, even with two very busy children.
The great majority of campers seemed to be very kind and courteous, which had not been our usual experience, especially after "quiet hours." I think this has a lot to do with the down to earth family atmosphere that the owners cultivate, in making everyone that drives in, feel special and attended to.
My wife and I traveled with our five-year-old daughter and two-year-old old son and would not hesitate to bring them back.
I think this weekend was the first time I ever heard my daughter say "this is the best day ever!"
This has been my one and only seasonal spot for camping. We have been at Sugar Creek Glen for the past few years and love every minute of it and plan on staying forever. Sugar Creek is very family oriented and quiet place. If you are looking for a beautiful campground without partying and loudness all night long, this is the place for you and your family! The owners are very nice and take great care of the place!
Let me start by saying this.when I read through some of these comments/reviews I was perplexed at some of the negative remarks people left. They clearly have some sort of deluded warped reality.
The owners of this campground are AMAZING people! Merav has a very sweet, almost innocent disposition but is very intelligent and thoughtful and caring. Daniel is a man that has one of the most fun sense of humors out there! It seems that there isn't anything these two wouldn't do to help accommodate you. They are striving EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE YEAR to come up with activities and brainstorming ideas on what they could offer new the next season or what they could improve on from the previous/current one.
I have been camping at Sugar Creek for a few years now, before these new owners purchased it and the changes they have made are wonderful! This place has made such a turn around from seasons past that we decided to become seasonal campers, and we are very pleased with that decision!
Those negative reviews are from folks that have some sort of issue with the common camping etiquette. (ie; do not blast music after 11pm or please don't graffiti on the property )
Please do not let the negative remarks of those that came here and caused such a disruption to the entire campground sway your decision in a negative way.
You will NOT be disappointed when you come join us!!!!!!
Look forward to seeing y'all! ~Mrs. aWesoMe!
My family's favorite campground in New York. Very family friendly. Beautiful scenery. My family and I camp all over NY and all over the North East up to Maine. We always try to make it to Sugar Creek Glen at least once a year.
My parents brought me here in the 70’s and left an indelible mark, simply beautiful.
I continued going as a young adult and as an (old) adult and this never changed.
This was all during transition of 3 owners. Bob and Alice were very nice.
I really didn’t know the owners after them but there was a slight decline in the overall condition of the campgrounds and lack of rules.
This made Sugar Creek less family friendly but still a beautiful place to camp.
The current owners over the last few years have not only continued to put a lot of capital into improving the campground they enforce the basic rules of respect.
The sort of respect that seems to have been lost these days. Things like enjoying the facilities but don’t abuse them, don’t deface them, clean up after yourself and most of all,
RESPECT other around you trying to enjoy the same area you are.
Unfortunately, some choose to believe that they have paid their money and this gives them the right to do as the please, forgetting the campground belongs to the owners and
they are simple “renting” an area with rules for the time they are staying.
The current owners have installed security measures such a video surveillance which I am certain has put a few to shame.
They are also not afraid to call people out for simply not following basic rules, nor call local law enforcement, which backs them 100%
I am so please over the years to see the newest owners take out trees to accommodate larger RVs, renovate sites, and attempt to grow grass in quite unforgiving rocky areas.
They installed pay showers to help with guests leaving water running all the time. As they are on well water, a shower running a few hours can drain the camp of water supply for days.
$.25 for 6 minutes of controlled temp water seems a small price to pay vs no water at all.
The reason I mention all this, I love this place so much that I have invested in a seasonal site and enjoy it, and, all of the visitors to Sugar Creek.
Although this is a place for all… it really is about having a great family experience, both Daniel and Merav do a outstanding job.
You can see it in every kids face, every summer weekend.
Keep up the fine work.
The owner was incredibly unpleasant. Been going to sugar creek since i was a kid 30 years ago. The people who bought the campground a few years back have ruined the place it a shame. Between ruining sites, making all sorts of new unnecessarily rules, and the fact that the owner is honestly just a grumpy mean arrogant guy. Wont be going back
Not impressed with managment. Came across a problem while camping and felt we were lied to about what really happened, although it wasn't big at all, it was a total lack of respect. The woman was very kind and talkative, she was great. Husband, not so much. Cocky and arrogant. This is the one place in this day and time that isn't welcoming to families that own more than one car. Parking our new car up.in a cramped parking lot all weekend wasn't very nice at all, nor was it safe
Other than those minor issues, the campground is very clean and beautiful. Bathrooms were amazing for a campground.
We won't be going back any time soon though.
