It’s sad when you have service so bad you look at the reviews while waiting for someone.. anyone..to do their job at a level of value that can be respected by a fellow nurse. We’ve been in the hospital for five hrs now (drs request) for pain. Sadly for five hrs I’ve been crying in pain unable to sit up to leave to go to another hospital.Ever nurse continues to answer every question with a question or a “um huh..yea”. One nurse even asked what was I normally taken for pain... as if tubes are put into the kidney threw the back on a regular bases. At a loss for words at this point.
My husband has had to have a cardioversion three times unfortunately in the last couple months.
The staff. Nurses, doctors, and everyone in between have been professional, compassionate, and taken great care of him, while keeping me up to date on everything going on. So thank you from both of us. No offense but hopefully we don't need to see you again anytime soon.
Thanks again for all you do.

The lack of care and competence our family has seen over the past two days is astounding. We are having to call nurses to ensure my Grandpa is being given pain medication. A family member found out today that for some reason, his regular medication was stopped. He is in his 80's with dementia and has cancer. We found out today that the 4mg benzodiazepine he has been taking, was also stopped. The pharmacist called and obtained his list of medications. How does this happen?
I have spent a LOT of time in this hospital. The staff is intelligent, dedicated and caring. They have helped me time and again. They are the only hospital in the state of Kansas to be a part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, so my records from both hospitals are sharable and that helps me a lot!
p.s. The food here isn't half bad either. ;)
They have hard working, dedicated staff, and they put their resources where its needed. I feel safe when I'm there and I know that everyone is looking out for me and is at their best when they come in to work. It's a true gift when you're in a scary medical crisis.
I’ve had both of my children here, have gone to ER many times, and have never had any drastic issues. The staff is 9/10 very friendly, informative, and all around comforting with whatever your situation may be. I would recommend this hospital to my friends & family, definitely.
Like all hospitals staffing is a problem. Not enough to meet the needs of patients. That is why I recommend staying with the patient to help when and where you can. Rate this hospital a lot higher than others I have been in, both as a patient and a family member helping with care. Everyone I met was helpful and caring. It's very hard to be a nurse or aid with so many patients and so little help. Running a hospital is not an easy job but Stormont Vail seems to be the best so far.
Literally just went in there because I’m having awful stomach cramps (I’m pregnant) and they put me in a waiting room for over 2 hours and came and took everyone who came in hours after me. Definitely not having my child there nor will o ever be returning. Awful experience.
I was withdrawing extremely bad and I got sent here. Yes, they checked my blood pressure once daily. Everyone else they pumped seroquel into them. The psychiatrist will see you for 5 minutes. Nurse Practitioner 5 minutes. Social worker 5 minutes. All of the "classes" were canceled because there was not enough staff. We sat paying a ton of money to watch TV. I don't know maybe this keeps some people safe but in my opinion; this is a homeless shelter that provides seroquel. I recieved no help here. They bill you 2,000 dollars a day.
I absolutely hated both of my stays here with my daughter, overly invasive in every way. I've had a few very sweet nurses but majority have no bedside manor. Housekeeping obviously does half of their job, I've seen blood left on the wheel of my daughter's bed, hair in the shower dirt around the corners of the bathroom floor. And to top it off I have cellulitis on my ear after staying in the NICU family room. There has been more issues but I'm done with my rant. Please avoid this hospital if at all possible.
Terrible hospital, billing sends you to collections before calling or even mailing a bill and then will not even accept a payment of any kind. They treat you terribly I had a baby in NICU and was put in a hospital room that looked like a prison room not to mention there was zero emotional support provided or offered. Doctors just treat you like another body but nurses were great. Go somewhere else if you have the option especially for maternity.
If I could give zero stars I would. The issues start with laziness in the ER to do their job properly - someone gets sick doesn't mean you intubate them! Completely unnecessary, which ends up costing thousands of dollars for everyone involved - including the insurance company. But as with any medical facility they will cover their tracks and create why it was necessary. The next issue is Billing - complete incompetence. They didn't have our address correct in their billing system next thing we know we are getting contacted by a collection agency. Funny - the collection agency found us. We refused to pay until Stormont Vail sent us an itemized invoice and we would only pay them directly. The customer service representatives with the billing department were rude, disrespectful, and incompetent. Clearly no one in the billing department wants to do their job and they must hate their job to be as rude as they are.
The ER here is a JOKE. If your not halfway dead when you come in here don't go. I was told specifically that I was told I could have a UTI test, blood work, and a CT scan. The second after that the nurse walk out, I was denied in every way and quickly checked out. You could be having symptoms of an anyeurism , stroke, tumor or anything else pertaining to truama and they would fully dismiss it on the idea that your heart is still beating and your not dead. Do not see Rachel Krob. Again, do not see Rachel Krob. Do not go to this hospital. I am nausiated and disgusted with their level of patient support. Furthermore, do not talk to Art Johnson about the medical practice he was appointed to manage. The poor idiot doesn't have a lick of sense to the medical profession, just listening to him talk was painful enough to need medication. Please just talk to him, I'm sure he'll let you know he has no idea what he's talking about.
Never go to this hospital for anything. It is mismanaged poorly done at all service levels. They are so incompetent. They care about money only. Patients are at risk at this facility for poor care, poor response. Very incompetent responses for anything. They make appointments without telling you. The doctors are not good there. Please save yourself time and give your business to anyone but this facility. Also they tried to kill my mother when she was there, but I was able to save her from their incompetence by being a big watchdog over their care. Giving meds without any authority. So sad this is medicine at it's very worst.
Great place, until the bill comes. They coded it incorrectly, tried to double bill me for a copay and fabricated a secondary insurance. When I called them out on this, they called me an idiot, told me I was wrong, refused to listen to me hung up. I had to make my insurance call and straighten it out. I called back to see if it was resolved and they claimed there was never any issues, they made no mistakes and were simply resubmitting the bill. To cap it off, she Sophia (S-O-P-H-I-A as she rudely spelled it out) flatly refused to apologize.
While your doctors and nurses are amazing, your financial department is fricking rediculous. I called to set up a payment plan for a bill from when we took our son to the hospital and apparently what I could afford every pay day wasn't acceptable ($50 a month for a $500 bill). It is what I can afford and the lady that I spoke to said that basically I had to pay $100 a month which unfortunately with all of my other bills I can't afford. She wasn't willing to try to come up with any other solutions with me and was extremely rude when I told her repeatedly that I couldn't afford that. all I'm wanting is to pay my bill at a payment price that I can afford.
I am so thankful for the care I received at this hospital! The medical staff in critical care saved my life and I will never be able to say thank you enough! All the staff cared for me with dignity and understanding courtesy and professionalism. I am forever grateful for all the wonderful people in this hospital!
Nurses were awesome! So nice to my wife, who gave birth to our second child. They helped her deal with her pain and comforted her when needed. Also, very informative of any questions that she may of had. They placed us in a nice room with a bed, that I was able to sleep with her at night. Very nice to lay with my wife and hold are new baby. Thank you to all who helped use.
