These guys are awesome! Each year they change something. All of them did a kickass job this year. They work their asses off to run that joint. They should all be proud of all their work. Love the new additions in the haunt. Everyone was entertaining. Shout out to Fluffy and all them! We'll be back next year!

I see a lot of the same things in haunted houses but this one has a lot of new things because it supposed to relate to a haunted prison. The scenery and props were amazing! The wait time was really long and the line wasn't even that long. There is also another long wait time outside because there is a second part to the haunted house. The actors are better in the lines than in the haunted houses. They compact you into long lines so you go into the haunted house with a big group so it's not that fun. The overall haunted house time is like 25 minutes total. Be prepared to park on mud.

Went to statesville last night and was not that impressed. It was pouring rain when we went, so not a lot of people came out. The lines weren’t that long and I thought the people in line were scarier than in the actual haunted house. The decorations and set up was awesome, but they just push you through so fast, it’s hard to take it in and have fun. They don’t send you in with your individual group, so you’re going with a big group of people and the actors scare the people in front, but the people behind them already see the actor, so that’s kind of ruins the fun of it. I also think they could hide the actors a little more, they were just kind of out in the open and not popping out scaring people. Overall, it wasn’t that bad, but I defiantly would not pay $60 to go back.

Visited Oct 6, 2017. Statesville Haunted Prison was amazing! We drive several hours from Wisconsin (near Madison) every season for many years to experience this awarding winning attraction. All staff are one of a kind and certainly love what they do! Love seeing everyone, Fluffy, Heretic and Dr. Vierhoff!

There were some alarming moments. However, I'm not the most reliable source, as I was wearing earplugs. The folks who are trying to scare you, were wearing somewhat believable makeup and costumes. My family who was with me did not wear earplugs, and they were not scared. The most frustratingly awful part was waiting in numerous lines. That by far was the scariest part. If you're looking for haunted house that is short on thrills, and long on lines, you've come to the right place. My favorite part was the beer and wine tent.

Absolutely an amazing show! My family & I make a 2 hour trip every year to see this haunt & also go to Hell's Gate in the same trip. Theatrical aesthetic is beautiful & over the top actors with very amazing & talented people behind the whole thing. Highly Recommend to anyone that loves haunted houses.

Just wanted to let you know and we made it down there Thursday night and had a great time. We were the first ones in line and went through in the first group. For the past five years my daughter and I have been trying to hit between 10 to 15 haunted attractions each season. This year we've already been to 11. That being said I just wanted you guys to know that yours is by far the best that we have been to. Not only was this the theme and the decor of the attraction an A+ but the actors and the professionalism was top notch. Like I said before we go to a lot of these attractions and you have set the bar very high now. Thanks again for providing us with such great entertainment and it was well worth the 6-hour drive. We will definitely be back next year. Also if you can point us towards any other haunts that you would recommend I would greatly appreciate it. We are always looking for good places to go

It was fun. We could use more port a potties thoughlol the lines are long even with a fast pass and the security was irritated immediately with any questions. With that many stupid people though, myself included lol I can see why it was how it was. INSIDE THE ATTRACTION WAS GREAT!

This was a riot! Its not so much that it scared the crap outta me, but it entertained me beyond expectations The place is set up nicely, with easy access to a souvenir shop and lots of food stands.. The decor is awesome! The "actors" really play their rolls well.. All in all, id do this every year.. Great place

So I visited Statesville tonight with my friend. Parking went smoothly and ticket people were very nice. The outside scenery and actors were all very good, yet a few actors I would definitely recommend more makeup for. I would also recommend building some sort of temporary indoor waiting as it could get very cold while waiting outside. Going through you are put in with large groups. While I understand it's part cause they are busy and part Prison vibe, I think that after the opening of each house they really need to send in smaller groups to enhance the experience. In terms of the inside experience the props, affects, and visual intake was all AMAZING, literally Hollywood quality on all that so props to them for that. But I STRONGLY URGE better actor training. I myself work at a haunted house and I n definitely say majority of the actors inside did not interact enough. Many would just stare with slow head movement or a quick pop out then back off. Lack of interaction for sure.

So for a quick sum up, very good affects and visuals, as well as amazing starts with the story line and all. But this haunt will definitely not be the number one haunt it's hyped to be until either better actors are brought in or the current ones are trained better cause a lot just slacked off on the job. ALSO please invest in more makeup and/or masks. A lot of the actors had very little makeup and it didn't help with scares at all, it just looked dumb.

Overall if you are alright with a tiny scare but seeing amazing visual affects then it's worth the drive and money, but not very scary as of now.

2/3 of the parking lot workers we encountered were just completely rude which made me pretty angry before going in and after we came out as we got yelled at by them upon arrival and afterwards for not walking in the right place, not closing the car door fast enough and moving too slowly for them.

You must buy your tickets online because then you can skip the long ticket line! You can also buy them when you get there on your phones. Get there just before opening time for less lines and less waiting too!

Location is actually a pumpkin patch in the day so initially standing in line definitely does not get you ready for a haunted house. Once you get inside past ticket taking counter the haunted house theme comes alive with great actors and music. ALL of the staff we encountered inside were great - great acting, great at picking out the people they could scare, great costumes/makeup/props but also a good balance of people scaring you and staff telling you where to go. All of the actors and staff were all very interactive and they kept you entertained while you waited in line.

The first haunted house was longer and at the end I felt like there were less actors/less scares but overall it was great. The props and special effects were great, the best I have seen at haunted houses so far. The actors did a good job of playing their parts and jumping out at you at the right times and seemed to stagger when they jumped out so not only the first person in line was getting the scares. Loved the maze aspect of it; navigating through low ceilings, tunnels, going through a bus, the crosswalks w/spinning tunnels, inflatables, maze of mirrors, live snakes, spiders and bugs.
Overall, this haunted house is definitely worth the $30 and the drive we made! If you are looking for a great haunted house, this is a good one!

This is the first haunt I've been to in Chicago, and my, what a difference it makes having one in a large market where you get enough revenue to really invest and re-invest in your haunt. One of the great things about Statesville is that they have so many actors and so many corpses and mannequins, that you're constantly having to work to identify which ones are real and which ones aren't. Even if you're good at separating the live actors from the dummies, your eyes don't get a break because the place is filled to the brim with both. There was so much to look at, and if I had to pick something to complain about, it was that I felt rushed. The way the groups are split up to prevent bottle-necking - I sort of felt obligated to hustle to keep up with the group rather than do what I want, which was to linger and absorb. So I feel like I missed a lot of details. But what I didn't miss was the electrical room. Mad props to the builders who designed and put that room together - it was PHENOMENAL. Thank you! And thank you, Fluffy! I was thoroughly entertained!
