I recently financed a home purchase through St. Mary's. The experience itself was less than adequate with poor communication at every step. I had a very simple loan and plenty of time to close. The loan rate was lowered by a point if the funds were transferred from a St. Mary's account (which is also the rate they initially tell you and process the paperwork with). Not only did I see fees hitting the accounts before direct deposits even had a chance to go through, but their online banking interface is ancient. I have been banking online with Bank of America for over 10 years and I am pretty confidant that their system was more advanced than St. Mary's is today. Less money towards the fancy building and more towards functional systems.
At St Mary's Professionals doing business in a professional and friendly manner. It is like understanding the difference between something homemade and something handmade when looking at a finely handcrafted piece.
The Nation's First Credit Union offers amazing service and the best place for home and auto loans.
Its a bank thats open past normal bank hours, its a good bank
I am happy with them. I have a loan through them and have been happy for the most part. Few improvements could be made, but nothing significant enough to have to give them less than 5 stars.
Very high quality banking. Professional staff willing to help or answer any questions. And the inside remodel is just wonderful. Really gives you a sense of comfort and security.
Unfortunately something has changed in their business model, whoever now holds the reigns is more concerned with nickel and diming the members and squeezing out a larger profit in fees, than helping the members and running a credit union, do not be fooled, they call themselves " bank" and that is what they are.
their online banking system is the worst. When you call them to try to rectify the situation the WAIT is exceptionally long. half an hour or more during normal business hours. I hope they will improve, and soon. There's only so much of a time-suck that one can handle. For example, I am now going to drive to a physical location to get my locked account unlocked. Really? I hope the problem will be fixed by them soon. If so I will change my rating for the online experience.
We used to love this credit union. Everything was fine until they made the foolish decision to "upgrade" their online banking system. It's been nothing but a hassle since then. For a time, I could not even log into the account when the "upgrade" was completed, even though I followed the instructions they sent out to the letter. They finally fixed that, so at least now I can see my account balance and use their online bill pay service.
But we have not gotten a statement in three months now. Several months before this "upgrade", they announced that if we still wanted monthly statements sent in the mail, it would cost $2/month. So I signed up for e-statements, where they email the statements each month, plus they are supposed to be available on the website when you log into your account. And for a while, it was fine, no problems.
But now - no statements since November, not emailed, not snail-mailed, and not under e-statements on the website in the account. We have no way of balancing our checking account because of these people, and you can't get through on the phone because there are 9,000 other people in the queue, waiting to complain about the same problem. WHY DON'T THEY JUST FIX IT?
They really should have left well enough alone. We're getting ready to find a new credit union, because this is ridiculous.
More problems than I can handle. Every mistake they make they pass the buck to the next person. Nobody wants to be accountable. Didn't take out two automatic car payments. Charged me the penalty and went on my credit. All I got was "sorry". Going to Granite state. Enough is enough.
