Popular for a reason - the food is great! Costs just a little more than some alternatives, but everything our party of 7 ordered was delicious, and they're great at meeting dietary needs. They even had several good vegan options, and dietary codes on the menu. Server was friendly and refilled coffee quickly even though the place was packed.

We were seated right away both times we visited. It's a very bright and happy dining experience with local artist's work hanging on the walls and available for purchase. They offer gluten free and vegan options. Their menu is very creative and out of the box~no pun intended. Our meals were served quickly. All of our meals were delicious and everyone left feeling very satisfied.

i literally have never had a bad meal here. everything i order is delicious! make sure to ask about their daily specials - their pancakes are out of this world! i took my friend here and she returned 2x in that same week with other people she loved it so much.

It's a good sign when there's always a wait at a restaurant, likewise when there's a regular clientele. Square Cafe is on my local shortlist for brunch. Their breakfast and lunch menus are solid and cover tasty options for diners of a variety of dietary restrictions.
Note that they don't take reservations, so expect to wait 10-20 minutes on a weekend.

New menu this week-very impressive! I had the new Brussels Sprouts bowl and it was amazing. Pancakes got rave reviews from our table and everyone loved the coffee and unique mugs. Fun and funky restaurant, highly recommend!

Too much good tasting food at a good price. It's too easy to leave feeling stuffed because the food tastes so good you can't stop eating. Service is fast and friendly. Sidewalk cafe if you want some fresh air.

I stop here every time I'm in Pittsburgh. Wonderful combinations of flavors in a wide range of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes that accommodate carnivores and vegans alike. Located in a neighborhood on the move, its location in the city draws from surrounding areas to bring in hipsters to oldsters like me. Staff can be a little overwhelmed during the rush, but they work VERY hard to balance friendly attention with the need to get to all their diners. Prices reflect the local, sustainable sourcing and high quality of preparation. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A great place for brunch any day of the week–I'm consistently surprised by how good everything is for the moderate price, from the service to the food to the coffee. The service was quick and food came out hot. Everything was well-seasoned and fresh, and the bottomless coffee truly was bottomless! My cup was never empty. Definitely a good value for the quality of the food, and it gets extra points for being vegan friendly.

When in doubt for breakfast outwe ALWAYS hit the Square Cafe. Traditional and eclectic offerings worth every penny. If you are sitting outside, your dog is welcome to join you. Magnificent art pieces line the walls and are available for purchase.
I have two sets of their "square" mugs with stands, allowing me to rid my cabinets of all the mugs you seem to collect and never use. The Square Cafe mugs are everyone's favorite in our home. Square Cafe is a "must" do at least once. I know for a fact they serve breakfast & lunch but I'm not sure about dinner. They have fantastic specials, the food is fresh, the service is top notch no matter how busy they are! Enjoy

The food was great, and we were seated fairly quickly despite the fact that they were busy and had a waiting list. The service was slow, even for a leisurely brunch, but overall, the experience was a good one. They also had blankets and space heaters for the outdoor seating, which we appreciated on a chilly May morning.

Breakfast here is amazing! The cafe seating is always a tight squeeze. Usually we are touching tables with other people, but it's fine. The menu here changes seasonally which is awesome and everything we've ordered has been delicious!

Breakfast/brunch at Square is always outstanding, we always take my family here. When my vegan sister was visiting she was ecstatic at how many options she had! They even have a bunch of gluten free options too. And the coffee's good!

The walls have rotating artwork from local artists, which is always fun.

My boyfriend and I stopped at Square Cafe for brunch this morning. We arrived and waited about 10 minutes for a table to become available; however, there were two heaters outside to stand by to keep warm in the meantime. We got there just before a large rush of people arrived and were lucky to only have waited as long as we did.

Upon being seated, we felt a little crammed into the center of the cafe between two other tables. Im not a large person, but I really felt like i had to suck it in to get between the tables to my seat and try not to hover over our neighboring tables' food. Also, I felt the cafe as a whole was incredibly loud and it was hard to carry our own conversation because we were so close to two other sets of louder people talking over us to each other.

The coffee was tasty and our server was great with refills. My boyfriend had the breakfast burrito, which we both thought was average.. I had the French toast special which featured a banana cream cheese filling. We both thought this special was delicious (and not too sweet, like some other French toast fillings around the city). 👌 The host and waitress were very friendly and efficient.

For 2 coffees, a burrito, French toast and an apple sauce, I thought $45.00 was a little steep, but we would both certainly return if nearby and it happened to be an off time. Overall, I would recommend stopping into this establishment at least once. I feel like this concept would be better executed in a little bit of a larger location so guests could feel a little more comfortable while dining.
