I have a relative that needs cataract surgery desperately and they have been putting them off for over a month. They have been in for the initial exam and were told that they needed the surgery and that the office would call within three weeks to schedule it. It's now been four weeks. They called the office back and had to leave a message. That was two days ago and no return call. My my relative is a Medicare patient and my guess is that they are putting them off and taking people with commercial insurance because they will get more $ from them. I wonder how Medicare would respond to this office discriminating against people with Medicare? Guess I'll inquire with them.

Dr. Larry Vanderplas at Southwest Michigan Eye Center was so impatient and rude to my mother today. He was literally yelling at her. (Apparently they don't have the equipment to accommodate a person in a wheel chair). I said "she is trying and you are yelling". No response - from him or his assistant. Afterwards I told the assistant that this was a horrible visit, (because the doctor had continued to be rude and dismissive) but she acted like she didn't hear me. Then she just walked my mom's papers to the front desk as we walked behind her. I then told the lady at the desk the same thing, and that we did not need to make a follow-up appointment because this was horrible and we would not be coming back, and all she said was "awwso I guess you're all set then". And all of this was AFTER everything it took to get her there; time, energy, gas and PTO. I've never seen anyone holler at my mother this way in my whole life, until today. I am so sorry that I took her to him! I feel terrible for her and I am just hoping that he sees this! On behalf of our family we are outraged that our mother was humiliated and treated with such disrespect. God has blessed our mother to live 80+ years, despite her health challenges. She has always been a sweet, loving and caring person, it is deplorable that a health care provider would treat her in this manner. We demand an apology, and a refund of this visit! No one should pay or be charged to be treated this way. This was not even an one star visit! The Washington Family!

Dr. Larry Vanderplas was extremely rude to my grandmother, who is a double leg amputee. Yelling at an 85 year old diabetic woman because he couldn’t easily accommodate her wheelchair. The staff didn’t seem to care of the complaints either. Won’t get business from my family or friends ever again until they get rid of this jerk.

    This place is a JOKE.
I have had nothing but a run around with getting some over priced glasses.
First off I was in there checking on something for my sons glasses, and they said I am due to get new frames. So I scheduled an eye appointment for middle of February. I show up to my appointment, I took an eye exam and picked out my glasses. Then come to find out I can't order my glasses until March 31st. And said that I can just call it in. .still waiting they lost my order today is may 10th
