First off, the food was cooked expertly. The French Onion soup starting off my brunch was smaller than I'd prefer, but was not overbearing in flavor, making it a winner in my book. The following veggie stir fry included fresh onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, peas among others, tossed in a sweet sauce with a spicy kick. A substantial mimosa served in a wine glass completed my experience, the entire order coming to an unquestionably reasonable price. It's rare to find a time Soup Spoon isn't totally packed, but if you manage to, it's a must-visit eatery in Downtown Lansing.
Always excellent food and service! Tonight was no different, the Maryland Crab Cakes were to die for and the Lobster Bisque was so rich and creamy. I have tried many new dishes and never been disappointed at the Soup Spoon! And it goes without saying their drinks are top notch!!!
One of my favorite brunch places in East Lansing! Soup Spoon has the best chili (obviously award-winning), assorted omelettes and creme brulee around town! The place is mostly crowded for good reason and getting service can be slow, though the food is very much worth the wait and the staff is warm and friendly! Most of their fare is delicious and it's hard to make a choice, but the breakfast stuff and desserts shine in particular. Great pricing as well, though dinner can be more on the expensive side as usual. Much recommended, but go with some time on your hands, if there on a Saturday morn!
Excellent food! The flavors were amazing. The staff felt like family. The soup spoon cafe is very welcoming! We will be back. It's our new favorite place. I highly recommend it!

I would give this place 10 stars if it were an option. Great farm to table food and personalized experience. Servers are extremely polite and greet you with your name every time I have been there. I have introduced dozen of my friends to thus place and everyone keeps going back as they cannot get enough of the goodness. I can review each and every dish and dessert but it will take up a lot of space. I have never been disappointed trying anything new there. Love this place
So thankful this place has yummy vegan options. It’s so appreciated in a town where there aren’t many! Only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is the fact that our server offered me pasta salad saying it was vegan and it had cheese on it. BUT now he knows and we will definitely be back!
Opens early for breakfast/brunch daily with delicious, creative dishes. The bar is open as well :-) ; great craft cocktails. Lunch features several (4-5) homemade soups and inventive sandwiches. Never been there for dinner, but based on what I've eaten earlier in the day, I'm sure the entrees are excellent. It's not cheap, but for the quality of ingredients and the care with which the items are prepared, it's a
reasonable value. Service is attentive without being intrusive. It can get busy during popular times (weekends and special occasions) so plan accordingly. For solo diners or a party of two you can usually find spots sr the bar.
I eat here about once a month. I love the food and drinks. The service is terrible on a regular basis. The servers and bartenders are incompetent. Not open on Sunday. Must not be capitalists.
Last experience: First, they did not put our order in correctly. Second, they came back and asked us what we ordered on two separate occasions on my last visit. Unfortunately, there is a lack of competition between restaurants in Lansing that make quality food. Expect long waits, delays, and terrible service for great food.
Update: The manager picked up the tab. I would rather pay and have great service. To make matters worse the manager (at first) tried to give us some bs about a hamburger taking longer to cook. In the end, a free lunch does not make up for wasting an hour of my time. I hope they hire new staff. Love the food.
One of the best restaurants in Lansing for delicious and inexpensive homemade food!!! Lamb burger is amazing. Lentil burger is most excellent. Hot toddy is delicious too. Service ranges from excellent to somewhat distracted, but everyone is well-meaning in my experience.
This has remained my favorite place to dine in Lansing for three years. Their menu is top notch and creative. Their wait staff is always very friendly and helpful. Their specials are usually hard to pass up. They also have an excellent selection of craft beers and wines. Definitely worth a visit! (Try the cherry bomb shrimp appetizer)
My husband and I went to the Soup Spoon Cafe during our business trip and just left the restaurant feeling happy and full! Absolutely delicious food and beer. Amazing wait staff and owners/manager. We will be stopping here everytime we pass through Lansing from now on!
The menu options seemed great. I would have to say the price is a bit high for the quality of food we received. The speed of service was extremely slow. We waited for more than an hour to receive our entree' s which were a basic salad and a sandwich. However the waitress did a great job trying to take care of us even though the food took such a long time to be made.
Great beer & wine selection. Coffeeoh my! They've extended their hours & now stay open late and serve dinner. Food is simple to organically different. Had lamb on my last visit & it was simply delicious!! Love that they serve a wide variety of selection in different foods!!! I could also just go there & drink a pot of coffee! They grind their own beans..need i say more, so its always fresh! Or if your a cappuccino or latte person you can have that too!! Go there and enjoy EVERYTHING!!!
The restaurant is small, so try to avoid the lunch rush, but if you can't, it's still worth every minute of the wait. Excellent food, excellent selection (food, wine, and beer), excellent service. We order carry out here on a regular basis. I highly recommend you try it out.
This is one of our family's favorite places to eat. The staff is outstanding and the food is always made to perfection. The food is so good it isn't just delicious, it's inspirational. It's hard to choose a favorite but the risotto is hard to beat for dinner. For breakfast you can't go wrong with any of the eggs benedict. This is also my three year old sons favorite place to eat. He refers to this place as "The Soup Guy" and his favorite thing to get is a Mickey Mouse Pancake (which was made for him the first couple times we went there without request). After eating a couple leftover bites of his it's hard not to get pancakes myself!
Get here early on Saturday unless you have plenty of time to wait. There's a lot of people that love this place as much or more than I do.
