  This business is known to make appointments and not hold them, change business hours, etc. They scheduled a tour / tasting with us at 3:30pm on 11/11/17. We questioned them based on the website saying they closed at 3pm. They said no it’s fine. So 11 of us show up to a closed business. Not good business practices!

  Super friendly staff. Cute puppy greeted us. Working distillery with staff there for that. Tasting room was nice and we sampled some of their chocolate too!

  We stopped in on the way to Elkins and arrived about 1 minute before they closed. Val was working the tasting room and a couple other employees were packing up to head home for the day. I asked if I could still purchase a bottle or if it was too late and Val insisted on allowing me to sample whatever I was interested in buying first. Even though it was closing time and I would have completely understood being turned away, she and the rest of the staff made it a point to let us know we were welcome. She went out of her way to make sure we had an amazing experience and took her time in explaining everything just as she would have done if it weren't closing time. I cannot express enough how amazing the customer service waswe felt like regulars even though it was the first time visiting. I will definitely be back and will recommend that anyone else passing through take the time to stop and visit. Thanks Val and everyone else for being awesome!

  Living in Washington DC, I had noticed bottles of Smooth Ambler spirits at some of our favorite bars. On a drive back home about a year ago to see family, we decided to stop here out of curiosity, and that first visit was enough to make us fans for life. Incredibly nice people, proud of what they do (with good reason), an outstanding product, and a beautiful setting. Now, every time we drive through WV, we budget enough time for a visit and a chance to resupply our bar (and the bars of a few lucky friends) with Smooth Ambler products.

  I enjoyed the going up and there and talking with Val who ran the tour and she was very friendly and really enjoyed talk bourbon and really went above and beyond to make a 30 minute visit worth a 5 hour drive!

  This is by far my favorite whiskeys on the market!! Everything I have tried by Smooth Ambler had been outstandingbourbon, rye, whiskey, and blends, every single bottle has sustained and dependable quality. You can really tell the care and craftsmanship that goes into every barrel they rest, and spending time with Brandon and Val who were working when I went in, you get a sense that they truly enjoy the experience of sharing their spirits with their customers, both the bourbon and their joy if it! Best fact I learned: Every bottle is inspected, numbered and signed by two people in the bottling room, so that is real ink on those labels!
  
  And I just wanted to say a big gigantic thanks to Brandon especially for making this THE BEST brewery/distillery/winery tour I have been on, it validated my enthusiasm for what has always been my absolute favorite brandand of course I need to thank my wife for having taken mebut Brandon AND Val were the best.
