Almost want to rate it lowly to keep it to myself. The people there are great! They treat you like a real person. They are genuinely interested in your questions. Second time I use them and will continue to use them. Very close to eagles nest gondola.

I have been using Ski Base for years. Always helpful and friendly. While putting on or taking off ski boots I hear conversation with the employees and other people and they are upbeat and positive. They make sure you have the proper equipment and fit well.

5th year if using this shop and again this year the service was just as great as the past 4. The skis they recommended for our group where spot on, spring conditions this year meant hard snow in the morning and soft in the afternoon, the Ski Base technicians did a great job putting us on the right skis for the snow. Very happy with the service and the price is always the best in town.

I regret ever renting equipment from this lousy ski shop. You would think the shops in Vail, CO would be better run and focused on customer service. This store is truly low class. My family of 4 rented ski equipment for a whole week during spring break of 2017. I truly wish I had rented from a better known business. I gladly would have paid more for better service and equipment.

There were numerous issues I had. First when you walk in you a greeted with the disgusting smell of sweaty feet. I understand it is spring break and the stores are crowded. The temperature is warm and people’s boots will cause their feet to sweat. No other rental store I went into had this disgusting smell. That is because they invest in proper equipment to air out the boots.

After getting fitted for our gear I was also a bit disappointed in the skis I received. I paid the higher price for the “Demo” Ski package. While the skis worked well they looked liked they were many years old. They were full of scratches and chips. Typically when I have rented demo skis from other shops they are like new. I think the whole shop is full of last year’s skis that other shops get rid of.

The first two issues I let pass but was extremely pissed regarding a purchase I made. I was in need of new ski gloves. I purchased a pair of $80 Scott ski gloves. I skied only 4 days with normal use, no crashes, no aggressive skiing. On the 4th day I noticed a large tear in the palm of the left glove. The stitching was already coming loose on the palm as well as the fingers of the right glove. I tried to return the gloves to the shop and was told that that “sometimes happens”. The clerk refused to either refund my money or give me a new pair. Thanks a lot for selling my crap gear and ripping me off. I can’t believe this shop operates this way. They have lost a customer that skis frequently with their family. I will make sure to tell everyone I know to never use this store.

Great place to rent skis and boots. Gear is well worn and not top of the line, but suitable for beginning to intermediate skiers. Reserve online in advance for a discount. Service is friendly and helpful.

Justin is a personable friendly face in Vail. Rented a bike from him enjoy talking to him about Vail in the shop. We're definitely rent from this place again

I've been renting and/or storing my skis at Ski Base for many years. The owners, Jay and Sari, are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Service and staff are great. And like others have mentioned, being able to store your skis and boots (on dryers!) at the shop for $5/night, not having to schlep them to and from your lodging is worth every penny. Their ski services (tuning and repairs) are simply the best. Period. It's great supporting a truly local, mom and pop, ski shop in the heart of Vail. You can't go wrong renting from Ski Base. Great equipment. Great service. Great people.
