We loved our stay here! It’s even cuter than the pictures - so many charming details. Spotlessly clean! Our bed was very comfy, our room was cozy and people were friendly. Good music playing in the common area, a shelf of books to borrow, tea and coffee was available in the kitchen. Great location too!
What a gong show, we booked for two nights only to be told after night one our room was booked out. Place was pretty dirty and the manager told us off for cooking at 8am as he’d had a late night and we were disturbing him. Could be an awesome place with a clean and staff that knew what they were doing. Location is great
I loved the attention to cleanliness. It was homey and comfortable, with lots of plants and it's own style. I felt welcomed and met some great fellow travellers. The location was convenient to my work and downtown, and I could walk to most anything.
Clusterf@#% is the best way to describe the Simple Hostel. The staff wasn't friendly (one guy was down right snippy) and it was crowded and claustrophobic. It was full when we were there and we were stepping over packs, luggage, and other hikers (seriously folks, if someone is walking through the room pull your feet in instead of leaving them stretched out in the pathway). Both couches had people sleeping on them one morning. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the extension cord fire hazard in the bunk room. Having an electrician properly wire new outlets is a better solution than running multiple cords randomly through the room. The Simple Hostel was easily the worst lodging option along the way on our Colorado Trail thru hike.
Simple Hostel: thank you for the reply. Feel free to email me at elizabethlovesmydog@gmail
Staying at Simple Lodge was the perfect way to spend a weekend in Salida. It's walkable to absolutely everything, perfectly positioned to be quiet and calm while amongst shops, restaurants, and a quick walk to the river. The bed was clean and comfortable, bathrooms were clean and well stocked. The shared space is welcoming, warm, and homey. There was a spirit of community while not feeling claustrophobic. Special thanks for hosts Jill, Justin, and Gabrielle who brought such joy to the stay. I'll most certainly be back.
