Spicey handmade noodles with lamb is to die for.lots of ma "pepper" spice (actually a citrus plant with tiny berries.makes your mouth numb). It seems like I usually wait a few extra minutes for this dish. Are they cranking out the apparently home made wide noodles on the spot? Tastes like it.
When you're in Brookline and craving authentic Chinese, Sichuan Gourmet could be a solid choice. We got a kidney dish, a duck dish, eggplants with basil, seafood claypot, and scallion pancakes. The kidney and seafood claypot were the clear winners. Especially the seafood claypot. It had a ton of good veggies on the bottom too. I was unimpressed with the duck. It tasted preserved and was dry. The scallion pancakes were also weird, really fried. This place is not one for atmosphere or service either. I felt like I was sitting in a dirty dark old kitchen that badly needs a renovation. But decent food and great location makes up for it.
It is an authentic Sichuan restaurant located a few steps from the subway stop. Very easy to spot. It is quite big, and very clean. The food was excellent and the service was fast and friendly. There's a Teraa cotta soldier wearing jewelries and sunglasses at the door; that's their Lost and Found!😀
The two chili dishes are labeled as “extremely spicy.” There is one three chili dish on the menu so you know what had to be done. Legitimately the spiciest non-gimmick dish I have ever eaten in my entire life but it was amazing if you like chitterling and pain. The beef and tendon appetizer was also wonderful.
Went for lunch here instead of the fast food places nearby and got way more and better tasting food for the same price. I know, probably should have already learned that, but it's wicked good either way.
Authentic Sichuan food at very reasonable prices. It's really fun, large groups welcome.
Great value for what you get. No nonsense staff, good comes quick and is generously portioned. Decor feels a bit dated in general.
Thinking this is the most authentic Sichuan flavor near Boston area. The spicy fish pot really good, and so as the duck, well flavored. Highly recommended to people want a bit spicy Asian food.
Pretty decent place for real Chinese food. Not the best Sichuan dishes but definitely worth a try. The bamboo short rib is amazing. The new hand-pulled noodles dishes are also good. Be careful with the heat.
I came here for lunch once. It was good, but not as impressive as it had been made out to be. I'll have to stop by for dinner sometime to give it another try.
Probably the best authentic Chinese food in Boston. The menu changes, so if you're visiting, and only get here every 6-12 months be prepared for that. The prices are average, but the service is relatively quick. Portions are large. (Pro-Tip: Order the duck.)
Lovely Chinese restaurant. Quick service. Good quantity of food. Nice quality too!
Completely full at 5 pm on a Friday! Prefer take-out anytime. Can get a little tricky to order over the phone, make sure you enunciate well. Good ma po tofu and fish with basil. The xiang la fish fillets are yummy.
