Zero would be best as they were caught harming many citizens and tried this with us then went right back to harming many new victims. Believed no one would know and no way to reason with them at all. Try to act like they do not know people that they intend to be harming. Profiling them.
Today I had to make a call in about an animal welfare concern. My concern was not only kindly and swiftly taken care of by dispatch but the officer (Officer Hunter) responded to me by phone. He was so kind to let me know that he made the welfare check and that all was well and that the animal was well taken care of. To the passerby, it was no apparent. So it was nice to have an officer go check and confirm. The officer was so professional and so kind. He called to tell me about his findings and understood how I could have possibly thought the worst. Sometimes looking in from the outside it is hard to see things like (food, water, shelter) and this officer got out and did all the checks and it was so greatly appreciated. I have had so many wonderful interactions with the Police and Fire Department employees in this area. It sure makes me smile. I wish all the best and to these men and women that put their lives on the line daily. I was actually worried that the police might think I was being nosey and going overboard but Officer Hunter thanked me and said that they appreciate the public being their eyes and ears when they cannot be there to witness some things. THANK YOU SHAWNEE POLICE and THANK YOU Officer Hunter. You are the epitome of a caring and kind officer.
I've been a resident almost 15 years. I've interacted with them on several occasions and they've always been very professional and responsive.
Words coming from multiple current and ex Shawnee police officers and staff. It is a constant suck-up fest at this department. Completely non-professional. From the hiring of police all the way up to the Chief. They can hide it all they want, this department is total garbage.
Most of the time this police department is very good. This morning I called to make them aware of a suspicious vehicle out in from of my house. I wanted them to be aware of this vehicle since I live right by an elementary school. Because this happened at 5:30am and I called at 8 they blew me off. I wasn't trying to have you dispatch a car, I was trying to make you aware of a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood.
New uniforms look way better. If only they let them wear external carriers.
I can't say enough good things about this police department. I've lived in Shawnee for a number of years but only recently have had much interaction with the police. Three stops in the last year for silly violations (wide turn?), but always let go with just a warning, and the officers could not have been more polite public servants. Since they've increased visibility on 75th street with these "silly" stops, we've seen crime in our neighborhood drastically reduced, so the inconvenience is a small price to pay, especially when the interactions are the most pleasant I've ever encountered with an officer. In addition, my son was recently bullied on the way home from school, and a witness called the police. Not only did they respond promptly, but the officer displayed the UTMOST sensitivity under the circumstances, proactively followed up, and earned my family's complete respect. Whoever is in charge here should be nationally recognized. If all departments operated like Shawnee, I believe relations with law enforcement would display a completely different perspective.
Stopped for not wearing seat belt, their job yes, but what a waste of tax payers money for a $10 citation. What a joke when a parking ticket cost more than this. Another law that our great government shouldnt have a say in. Spend your time taking care of real crime
This police department is spot on. Very quick to respond to even a minor call. What I saw today was very impressive. Quick, polite, and effective. Hats off to the Shawnee Kansas Pokice Department. This coming from a former law enforcement officer.
