Very old but not a bad place to stay. Low on things to do.

The accommodations were clean and very well maintained. The bed was super comfy memory foam and it was a great place to stay. That being said, my experience with the staff was a bit disappointing. Some customer service skills wouldn't be amiss for the night staff. I had to get new keys every day because my key cards would be deactivated for some reason. No explanation was offered. Annoying but I would stay here again because the place has a charm lacking from major hotel chains.

We picked the Senate over the chain hotels because we wanted more local flavor. What we got was funky smells, a maze-like layout, and a general sense that there is a lot more history living in those old walls than we were comfortable with. Staff was friendly and helpful. Being close to the capital was cool.

Really cool place. Has a lot of personality. It is older and a little dated but that is a part of what makes it so cool. We were worried because we read some bad reviews but once we got there we really enjoyed it.

This is my favorite hotel in Topeka! Beautifully decorated, comfortable with hot chocolate! The staff is very understanding, very accommodating. And then there's breakfast with a 2 pm checkout (if they're not too busy the next day). I love this place!

Chose this hotel due to its proximity to an event space. Definitely an older building and staff but it has been renovated. However, it was still showing it's age, creaks, poor noise insulation, loud doors, weak heat/ac, etc. The neighborhood was also surprisingly noisy, lots of sirens. I was able to sleep, but I don't think I would stay there again. I guess it may be an attractive location if you like cool old buildings, but that's about it.

Old apartment building turned into hotel. Quiet. Friendly front desk staff. Quaint rooms. If in Topeka again, will definitely stay here!

Very cozy! These rooms are like little luxury apartments! Private balconies speedster kitchen and dining area. Very nice clean rooms for being in the historic downtown.

Over priced for the quality. A little run down. Strange musty smell. The room was small, but comfortable (with a small adjoining "sitting room" with a frig (justifies calling it a "suite"). The bed foundation was "creaky" and the toilet paper holder kept falling off. Nice breakfast. The adjoining neighborhood was a little "suspect".

This hotel is looking a little run down at this point. For example, there was a large patch of cracked paint on the inside surface of the door to our room. It needs sanding and repainting. However, the room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the outside porch area. The location was perfect for our needs. So- while it could use some updating, it was clean and comfortable.

This is a really nice building for its age. Bed seems good. Very charming place. It does have the smell of an older building, but not unbearable.

It was a really great hotel. The staff was really accommodating and the price was adequate. It was super hot during our visit, I wish they had a pool to cool off in, yet the AC and fans within the room worked perfectly. The breakfast was very dissappointing. Having real eggs and bacon and another item, like French toast or pancakes versus a waffle maker would have been an add to the variety.

Thank you for the stay. It was convient to shopping and restaurants and being in the historic district brought a little more desire to our sight seeing pleasure.

Very hospitable. Ĺove the aspect of suites. Fully supplied with items you may have accidentally left at home. Very helpful with suggestions for food. Wish they still had the evening welcome receptions and earlier time for breakfast with a wide range of items.
