Tsa and the airport were easy to get through. Once through security we found out that not one good or beverage place was open. I know it was thanksgiving day but nothing open and no vending machines is ridiculous!

It seems that the smaller the airport, the more time the TSA has on their hands to violate people. I came through with a bag that had cheese in it, and I was escorted by a TSA officer with cheese in his hand. We all know how much of a threat to security cheese is. Then, I had to go through security a second time sans luggage only to be given a full pat down on my vagina because I’m wearing a skirtnote that even though this is policy, they did not pat me down the first time. I was crying and upset and totally violated. Come prepared to get felt up and have random items seized.

Wow, I'm not used to small airports. I wasn't used to security without TSA Pre. Despite the sign of TSA Pre, you still go through security as non TSA-Pre. I wasn't expecting to empty my bag of electronics so I was caught off guard. With no line no big deal, but is was confusing at first.
I'm amazed at watching my bag come directly from the baggage handler. Piece of cake!
Atmosphere was bright and enjoyable. Car rental was right next to baggage claim, so I could check in while waiting for my luggage. Imagine that! Cars were a short walk out the doors and the road in and out of airport was easy.
I have no complaints traveling through Santa Barbara Airport.response / report this review -

In, through security, and out. No fuss, no problems, and it has been that way repeatedly over the last two or three years we have been flying in and out of SBA. Other airports, take notice.

This is normally a great airport to travel thru. Short lines and friendly staff. One thing to be aware of is that the one store inside of security often closes before the last flights of the day depart, and the posted hours for closing at that store and at the one restaurant inside of security are very "flexible", meaning they often close early.
They must have recently cycled thru TSA personnel because the ones this time were extremely rude and hostile towards several people including a mom with small kids traveling by herself. Their attitudes we're all clearly influenced by their hostile supervisor who should be told to get another job. No need for this kind of behavior. Their were only about 5 - 10 people in the entire line.response / report this review -

Wonderful, cute, relaxing airport to fly out of. Literally about 5 minutes from curb to your gate, including the nonexistent security lines. One star off because there aren't enough flights and they can be expensive.

Their TSA crew here are ridiculous. After waiting several minutes for my bag to be screened I found out that it was just my jar of peanut butter that was flagged. They threw it out because it is a "spreadable item" even though I got it through multiple airports so far during my trip. It was really uncomfortable watching them aggressively pat down elderly women too. Obviously not the end of the world that I had to wait a bit of time and surrender peanut butter, but a lot of fuss for such a small airport

Big enough to have better prices than some of the super-small airports like San Luis Obispo's a little north of here, but small enough you might be able to avoid some of the massive lines you'll see in metropolitan airports like LAX. Grounds are also well-kept; clean and modern looking.

Small, clean, cute airport. All of the workers are extremely nice and there's food options (not much, but some). A nice alternative to LAX. :)

On the upside, it's a small airport with little to no traffic and super easy to get in and out. Good help you though if you've got a united flight connecting at SFO. Morning flights are delayed and cancelled due to fog and cascade into the rest of the day. I've also had flights cancelled due to fog in SB. Last flight from Brussels back home some attendant broke my bag after making it through customs on the east coast. At the baggage claim in SB i wanted to report the incident. The baggage claim attendant didn't know what to do and started they'd have to call someone over. After waiting for 20 mins for someone else to help him I said forget it as I had been traveling for over 17 hours at that point. Great airport as long as nothing goes wrong but you're SOL if they do. Long term parking offsight on Hollister also shows a bunch of break-ins/ theft on the SBPD crime map. Worth it just to Uber/Lyft, even with the airport fee in your ride.

Great little airport. Only option if you live in Santa Barbara without going to LAX. Never had it be too busy and getting in and out has always been pretty painless. Airport is newly renovated and very nice overall.
