Take an hour long guided tour or stay overnight on this amazing example of a classic Great Lakes railroad carferry. 87 years old, 360ft long and able to carry at least 28 full size rail cars. Built in 1931 and all in her original condition. A must see if your in the area! Also tour the USCGC Acacia!

Very cool place. All I can say is that you should give this ship consideration when looking for lodging. Yes the rooms are small, and you don't have your own bathroom, no cable television, air conditioning, or any amenities you would find even in a cheap motel, but the experience of staying the night on an historic ship is pretty frickin awesome. I feel as tho I'm 10 years old again. Staff are great, and knowledge, Continental breakfast is good. The only thing I didn't like was The stairs, but if someone in your party isn't stair friendly, they do have those stair lifters that you see on t.v plus a ramp, so no worries.

Josh was excellent showing us around the last and original box card ship. Wow the pictures I got are amazing. I am thankful I got a chance to tour this ship.

Only remaining great lakes ferry that's all original. Great tour with Josh. You can stay overnight in the rooms if you want, and they provide a continental breakfast. The retired Coast guard ship, the Acadia is harbored right next to the S. S. City of Milwaukee, so you can see 2 boats at that location. It's $10 admission per adult, $7 seniors. There's a campground with docks for those who want to take their boats onto Lake Michigan from the channel there at Manistee.

I booked lodging on the SS City of Milwaukee as a surprise gift for my husband and for a good friend visiting from Germany. Saying that they were delighted doesn't begin to describe! We had the privilege of exploring the vessel during our stay, and the high point was a tour guided by Duane, who shared dozens of details and amazing facts about every part of the ship and its history at sea. It is a must see!
