We left Georgia early in the morning and arrived at Ruby Falls around 9ish. We walked right in, we waited a few minutes for them to gather enough people to actually do the tour. Which we were perfectly okay with. We were given an amazing tour guide named Grace. She kept the mood light and fun! The waterfall was absolutely and incredibly beautiful. I loved seeing this! I will be back

The tour in the cave is too long. But you only have around 5min to watch the fall. It's beautiful though. The entry is $22 per person after taxes. When you enter the cave, be prepared for a picture wich they are gonna charge you before you leave the place ($43 dollars) The staff is very friendly. Our guide was a very nice guy. I recommend you to have the experience!

Unique natural caves, extremely crowded, felt like cattle being corralled to the fall. The line to get in was 30 minutes, outside in 20 degree weather, not fun. Even if you purchased online, you waited in the same line as people buying tickets. Once in, the disappointing part begins. The tour guides are told/taught to be bubbly and try to engage the clients. It was a constant barrage of "Ready to see some falls? Woo!" Like an overly excited aerobics instructor. Other than one 3 minute movie, the guide provided no, zero useful information about the falls. In the narrow passages, we squeezed by other groups going the other direction with the guide always saying to some young person, love your shoes, great hat, etc. So instead of narrating what we are seeing, we get comments about people we don't know. But the worst part was the sheer volume of people being jammed through. Always being stopped and waiting for another group to squeeze by, one after another, to the falls and then back. Overall, it was not worth it to spend 3 minutes at the falls to endure the rest of it. Go somewhere else is my recommendation. And that's a shame because this could be a really interesting site.

Fun family experience! We visited the day after Christmas and it was worth the trip to Chattanooga. Allow about 2 hours for the Falls and gift shop. I would suggest going as soon as they open to avoid the crowds. If you are in any way claustrophobic, please don't put your family or friends through this with you along. Also, wearing a heavy coat and gloves/hat is overkill. I was sweating by the time we came back to the surface. I would not take kids under 5 years old as it can be very boring for most and if your kid is unhappy down there, everyone in your tour will be unhappy, too. It's dark in many places, so bring your own flashlight to help navigate. Not handicap friendly. No walkers, strollers or wheelchairs and anyone not sure-footed will be a hazard to everyone around them. It's a good 2 mile walk round-trip. Oh, and go to the bathroom before you begin your tour. Other than all thatenjoy the beauty of natural rock and water!

What a great tour! Used to go with my parents in the 60s and 70s, but haven't been back for over 30 years. It's almost exactly the same, except it's now $20 for an adult ticket!
Be warned if you've never been - if you are claustrophobic or can't walk well, do NOT take the tour. It's a swift elevator ride down 260 feet from the side of Lookout Mountain into the cave. The walking tour is about an hour through the caves, with some slippery and uneven floors rock floors. There are low hanging rocks everywhere too.
Now It's spectacular! The guides are all very knowledgeable about the history of the cave, and there are prerecorded audio clips as well. After seeing some fondly remembered stalactite and stalagmite formation with imaginative names and creative lighting, the best part of the tour ended in the waterfall room. It is breathtaking, even without the well done light show.
If y'all are visiting Chattanooga, this is a tour you must do. And unlike some other attractions, you can do it summer or winter!response / report this review -

Took the whole family. 3 kids, 2 adults. It was $170 for us all. For tickets to Ruby Falls & Rock City. It is 100% worth the money. Whether this is your thing or not, you'll enjoy this trip. Our tour guide at Ruby Falls was Aaron, omg he was a blast. So funny and creative, interacts with everyone and is just great. We loved him. All in all, this is the place to go.. Whether its a date, or the whole family, you can't go wrong here.

Arrived at Lookout Mountain, Chattanooga. We started at Ruby Falls. This was a mistake as we ended up in long lines waiting to tour the cave. In the cave, we were asked to squeeze up against the cave’s walls as 8 other groups passed by us (the walkway was too narrow and I was bumping into some of their people). This occurred randomly along the trail (each of the 8 times we waited for 40 people). Repeatedly, The guide explained that they were the survivors and even joked with them stating that she was very happy to see that they had survived. Ruby Falls was so beautiful but we were only there to see it for about 8 min. as a new group was arriving. Before exiting the cave we waited another 35 min. to board the elevator. This was so they could bring down new touring groups. Over and over, the guides hinted about wanting to be tipped. Finally after no one responded, they told lengthy stories about themselves ad nauseam. One guide discussed her college courses. She was taking some writing course…blah blah blah.. I suddenly realized that I knew more about the guides than the cave! We were at this place for 2 hours and half. You will find that most of that time is in lines and being herded along like cattle. Many years ago, we had timed tickets and the whole process was flawless. It took less than an hour.

Ruby Falls is a great place to visit for those passing through Chattanooga. I would highly recommend coming around the times they offer extended tours (especially in October) because you get a more personalized experience with ample opportunities for taking pictures. The underground waterfall is beautiful and so are the views you get when you go back up to the top and finally to the observation deck (weather permitting). Highly recommend for couples and families alike.

Saw people recommending alternative stops and recommending skipping this one without saying why. The falls and views are great but everything thing else is another story. This is a line ride. Turned out to be around three and a half hour line ride. We pre-bought tickets at Rock City and thought we wouldn't have to wait another ticket line again but I was wrong. You have to wait in the line to buy tickets again and then wait for the people who haven't bought tickets so that you can get another line. The caves are nice I just wish they weren't as vandalized and realizing that the tours have killed them. Even at 20 feet over head most of the stalactites have been broken off and will no longer grow. The falls look nice but they ask you not to take pictures when you walk in and then they turned the lights off too soon before I even got up to the edge to be able to see them. So between waiting to get to the falls and waiting to get back out that's all this trip really was. Waiting for something that didn't really get a good look at. They look like they're remodeling so maybe one day this will be a better experience.

The cavern is well lighted and the falls are amazing. It was a pretty easy to navigate with a baby in a carrier. Biggest complaint was the large group sizes (constantly waiting on stragglers). I guess the good thing is that everyone was able to get most of their photos. I do wish the falls we're lighted with just white light. The rotating color makes it more difficult to get the perfect picture. Pro tip: The primary focus is the falls. If you want the best opportunity to get a good photo, get your party close and aim the camera slightly up. This way people are less likely to be in your background.

It is one of the best experience I had. The water fall is so beautiful. To make your visit count please don't visit during any long weekend as you would be required to wait in a long queue. We waited for at least one and half hour. But it was worth waiting.

Amazing piece of history and unaltered natural beauty in the middle of our country. It's so fun and gorgeous. Walking through the cave can be tricky, need to be stable on your feet. Watch your head!!! Some of the dips in the cave are pretty low and you can bang your head if not careful.

Rest is awful:
I would rather have recorded tour because their live guides don't do too good of a job. Their group department and their policy is terrible. Do Not Recommend big group. They need to learn to better mange passing of groups in narrow space. They should be able to coordinate that better specially as many times their guides go through the route.response / report this review -

Another great trip to Ruby Falls. They were doing training for new tour guides. Katie was excellent and was sure to answer all questions and walked the whole group so no one was left out. She was funny and courteous of all guests. Her trainee Gwen was sweet and learning a ton. Katie defiantly made our trip fun and even told us facts we didn't know despite it being a common vacation stop for us!

What an interest place to visit. It touts the amazing natural formations. The staff is very friendly and outgoing. It is great for visitors young and old. It was one of the most amazing places I have ever been. It was a bit of walking but not so much that I gave up. There is too much to see to really notice how much you are moving around. I will definitely come and visit this place again!
