I have been attending RVC since fall semester 2011. I have been muddling through numerous unecessary prerequisite classes, most of which are taught by teachers that don't want to be there. In the last five years I've been going there, I have seen countless teachers that are unresponsive to phone calls and emails. This is hard to go there in the first place because I don't think any of us truly want to go to school unless we know what we want to do for a career, which is very rare. On top of the teachers ignoring their students, this is one less stress we all need aside from our personal lives.
I have also been battling through the lower level math classes for quite some time. I started in 091, and failed 092, 093, and 094 once before retaking them again. I have had seven teachers in these classes, (different after I failed the first time) and Jeremy Chamberlain has been the best one. I have had foreign accented professors- which is uncalled for. On top of already not understanding the material, we have to hang on to every word they say! We are paying students and this should not happen when we are trying to get through these tough classes. Aside from Professor Chamberlain, all the other teachers I've taken are either foreign accented or they don't know how to teach the class. The result of these teachers I've had have been dropping the class, or failing. All of the students in my 094 class now have taken the class before once or twice -if that many students are failing the same class, what is this saying for the teachers? I have been to the tutoring center and had one good one, but her schedule is always booked. The others I've had have asked other tutors in the room how to teach it because they didn't remember the material. I get the run around frequently in the math center, as there isn't a teacher tutoring there at the time I come in, (which there should be one scheduled at all times, especially in the afternoon!) or there aren't enough of them in there. I have also seen teachers having outside of class conversations with students while sitting and "trying to help" the student they are with. I'm so tired of wasting my time and money there, I'm so close to my associates degree but if they don't have the teachers to get us through, I feel like throwing it all away.

It took me 4 years to get my Associate's degree and figure out what I wanted to do. I graduated May 2012 and am now in my final year of law school. I saved thousands of dollars by beginning my higher education journey at RVC. I also found that it prepared me for a larger university campus. When I transferred from RVC to that larger university the transition was smooth and non-intimidating. Lastly, I find that the quality of education I received from RVC was great and equivalent to my experience at the larger, 4-year university.

Honestly every student here should be arrested, because they are stealing! The education you get here is better than many universities throughout the state and at a fraction of the cost. I went to post grad and honestly RVC had better faculty than I did later on. Golden Eagles Ride or Die!

I had an awesome experience at Rock Valley. I completely disagree with the negative reviews. I had ONE professor that got on my nerves over the two and a half years I attended. The rest of my professors were supportive, intelligent, and worked hard to help me succeed. You see, it is all about what YOU put into your education. This isn't high school folks. No one is going to hold your hand and give you A's if you don't earn them. Rock Valley is a great school and is highly affordable. I transferred to a four year institution after graduating from RVC with a 4.0 GPA, all while working a full-time job. So, I say, if you had a bad experience at Rock Valley, give it another try. Get organized, do some research, and jump into it. An education is something no one can ever take away from you once you earn it. Rock Valley will get you on the right path, if only you put forth the effort.
