I love Riverside Canoe! They have the homiest (is that a word?) feeling as a far as outfitters go, I wish they had multiple locations on all the rivers, I'd go to them all. This family run business is super customer oriented but they make you feel like you're one of the family, I think one of the owners even spanked my kid once, just kidding!! Okay, in all seriousness, they make sure you aren't waiting around to fill up a van, if your party is ready to go and there's a van there, they're loading it up and getting you on your way.
Now to mention the amazing stretch of river they do drop off's and pick ups for, I would highly suggest, if you're into kayak or canoe in camping, put in wherever you feel up for and have them pick you up at the 93 bridge in the morning, it takes about 2 hours to paddle there from the Alleghany Access Campgrounds (where you'll be paddling to the day before), there's primitive campsites, and a for real "outhouse". So Pack up your yaks and canoes with all your fun camping gear and give it a whirl, there's some great trails at that location also and there is NO VEHICLE ACCESS, that's right folks, only canoe in adventurers get to enjoy this piece of paradise!
Make sure you tip your drivers These guys work hard to make sure you have a great day, it's only fair to make their day also. Hugs and happy river trails!
Top ratings for a top rate experience. Susan, Gage, and Terry did a fine job for us. We had a wonderful time, enhanced by the courteous friendly service they provided. We hope to go back in the future. Lovely part of the river to paddle. We did the four hour trip from their shop to HWY 93 bridge.
We visited July 13th 2017 and enjoyed the 4 hour tubing trip. We have been on other river tubing trips but this was by far the best. The staff is great, the facility is extremely clean and has anything you might need and forgot to pack. The water that day was clear and clean as were the banks. Other trips to different rivers were not so. I had no second thoughts about hopping out of the tube and swimming a bit now and again. It was enjoyable from the moment we arrived, the trip in the van up river right till the end when were met by staff to help us up onto the bank. We will be back for sure!
Great place to rent canoes or kayaks. You pay for the rental then they take you up-to-date, help you put in, then let you float/paddle your way back down to the facility. The boats were nice and all of the employees were very friendly and helpful.
I had the privilege of spending the weekend with the owners, and employees, of the Riverside Canoe, I was very impressed with there service, friendliness, and hospitality. Cabin #3 was a nice little cabin for my weekend, clean and very comfortable. Shuttle services for people with there own kayaks can sometimes be up in the air on service from the outfitter, but having used several services on a lot of rivers Riverside Canoe is my #1 so far. Thanks so much for making my weekend a pleasure!!
Friendly and Helpful Staff Quite inexpensive vs the other places we checked on in the area.
Great service; everyone was so nice. Had a great trip on the New River thanks to Riverside Canoe.
Good set-up, well priced and nice people. The river was low but they couldn't control that. Well worth a visit.
The owner is very hospitable and accommodating. Highly recommend this operation.
For years I have rented canoes and paid to have my own kayak shuttled by these wonderful people. They have been part of several memorable family trips. We are all fortunate they choose to operate a business.
The contrast to the surly, small-minded, commercial, and price-gouging folks across the river at Rivercamp USA could not be more stark.
