Great food but Flank Steak was somewhat cold. But good flavor. Forgot a round of drinks we asked for. Overall, impressed by the food!
Service was good, salsa was great with a nice smokey flavor, guacamole was tasty. I had a chicken taco & a steak taco. They were both fantastic. My friend had the breakfast tacos and those were also very good. The prices are a little on the higher side. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice Mexican bite in downtown St. Pete. Sit outside on the patio, it’s beautiful with a great view!
Man, I used to LOVE LOVE this place!! It was a regular go-to. The last few times I've been, both service and food were barely mediocre. They used to have the best tacos in town. Not only have they raised their prices on them, they lack the zip and pizazz of before. I don't know what's happened here but I hope they fix it. I miss sitting in the lovely courtyard for brunch!
Just love this place. Food and service is outstanding. Even with a waiting list that was not as long as they said it’s just totally worth it. Great prices too!! If you get a chance try them out. You won’t be sorry.
Friday at 8:00 pm..Our server Cort was on point. She was super fast, friendl,y and helpful. She had thorough knowledge of the menu. The bar(s) were all quick and perfectly executed handcrafted cocktails. The food was great. Perfectly sized tapas style plates. Authentically flavored Mexican dishes.
I went to red mesa cantina yesterday with my friends. We got outside seating. The moment we stepped foot in the restaurant, I was so impressed. The restaurant has such a great vibe. It looks so amazing. Unbelievable ambience. The food waa so good. I got the beef burrito in a bowl and fried plantains. And we got the chips and dips. The food was amazing. I loved it, so did all my friends. The staff is so friendly and nice. Overall I loved the place. I'd recommend it anyone in St Pete for some good Mexican food.
If you have any real knowledge of Mexican food, or good food period, don't go here. The food is terrible. Even the chips were mediocre. A large menu without flavor and low quality ingredients. I guess people enjoy the ambience (drinks, outdoor seating, good for groups).
I previously claimed that Red Mesa Cantina was a top pick for me. Today the service was alright, the food was decent, but I had a blonde hair (I'm a redhead) under the salt on my less than mediocre margarita glass. When I sent back my full glass of margarita (I ordered a pitcher) they returned an empty cup. I felt like it would have been better service and a nice gesture to return the glass with the same amount of margarita. This visit was not impressive and would not prompt me to go back. I was appreciative of the A/C after Irma.
My husband will plan an entire vacation around a trip to Red Mesa Cantina. I wish I was joking. But I don't argue, because the food is fresh, innovative, and above all, it's gooooooood! Atmosphere is wonderful and inviting. Service has always been good, too. My husband's tip: try the salsa best he's ever had!
Fast service although they had a 45 min wait .But we didn't maybe 25 min .great service ,beautiful food , great flavor combinations I mean awesome! The staff was great! Every person that addressed me had a smile on they're face ! Wonderful time Thank you all!
Came up in a search for vegan restaurants so decided to check it out. Great location and vibe. Unfortunately not much to choose from on the menu and the waiter gave me a gluten free menu thinking it was a vegan menu. Would have loved a great bean burrito with sauce but wasn't on the menu. Ended up enjoying the outdoor patio with chips, salsa and refried bean dip. Would also like to see them cease the plastic straws.
Excellent good and wonderful wait staff. It has huge portions and very creative dishes filled with flavor! Really lovely space. Very trendy. Definitely a place where you can relax and feel totally comfortable. Great al fresco dining experience
Always good, service has always been friendly, and who doesn't like good Mexican?
I've been here a few times, both for dinner. The first time I went to Red Mesa, I only ate tacos.
The duck taco is out of this world, by the way. I think about it a lot when I'm craving tacos. There is a sort of jelly on it that mixes really well with the spicy taste and I love duck.
On Wednesdays, Red Mesa serves fajitas. I ordered the shrimp fajitas and they were delicious. My server recommended them and I'm glad she did. Unlike a lot of other Mexican restaurants that make their fajitas really oily, Red Mesa cooked them perfectly so the fajitas still retained their flavor.
Service is always very friendly but the waitress didn't know how much the fajitas were and they ended up being far more expensive than she told me they were going to be at around $17. She initially said they would be $13. Since they're not on the menu regularly I had no way to tell how much they really cost.
I'd come back, especially for the duck tacos.
One of our favorite St Pete places, especially by the fountain on the outside patio. Reasonable prices and fresh cuisine including old standby dishes as well as creative, well designed dishes with a south of the border feeling. Try their spinach salad, its one of the best you will ever eat. Why only 4 stars? Well, in the downtown location you have to pay for chips and salsa, and any other little thing you want, but don't let that stop you from trying this fantastic restaurant. If you get there early, you will beat the crowds that are bound to gather later on.
