Older hotel on water front with panoramic views. Interiors are dated but clean and comfortable. We were in a suite which is fairly large so the wall heater had a difficult time heating the room. It took about 5 hours from our check in before it was comfortable. After that we kept the blinds closed to keep it warm. They did offer to move us to a smaller room that would hear better but we elected to stay.

Very difficult to navigate, office is small kiosk in middle of parking lot. Very unattractive entrance.
Dark and gloomy hallways that are very scary.
Rooms are fair, but don't open windows
Lots of loud and obnoxious drunks.
For the money they ask, they should have some security or at least decent lighting.

Great, great hotel in a perfect location. Although an old building is very well kept. The rooms are super comfortable. The staff is also great. Full 5 stars from us.

Great nice and clean hotel. We only went to the restaurant and bar after doing the hurricane ridge ride, and all we wanted was some delicious food. Great service, good food, great views. The staff were very account and served with a smile.

Really great staff that makes and effort to go above and beyond. Got a reduced rate on a water view room (I'm a Red Lion member and a military member). Got a great restaurant recommendation for a Thai food dinner that evening. Facilities are about 60% updated and my wife LOVED the mattress and pillows (she's hard to impress).

We ate at the restaurant. It was obviously busy, but we were waited on within a very reasonable length of time. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The food was good, i had a respectable grilled salmon, and my wife loved her crab cakes. My kids were happy with their burgers, and had a blast watching the people walking their dogs on the path running by the water.

Beautiful view of the strait while we dined. Right near the walking path along the water and our 1.5 year old loved watching all the doggies getting their evening stroll. The salmon while good did not have a wow factor to it. Also got the crab cakes which were EXCELLENT. Staff was attentive and courteous and the restaurant was very busy but this did not affect our service. Two standard kid meals which came with a scoop of ice cream each. There were no leftovers to the home.

This hotel is the nicest in Port Angeles by far. Not saying it's great, but it's not bad.
Pros:
Great location (right by the ferry and great restaurants)
Awesome views of the strait
Staff is pretty friendly
Rooms were clean
Giant flat screen TV in the room
Cons:
No hot water
Homeless crackheads right outside our room
Food is not good at the restaurant
Air conditioner/heater didn't work (although I really didn't need to use it, it was summer and around 62 degrees in the afternoon)
Overall a good place to stay. Probably will be back.

There appear to be only a few good hotels in Port Angeles. And it's quite hard to find a good one during a long weekend, which is what happened to us. Red Lion was one of the few available. Based on the location, the ratings, the Red Lion brand & the room rates, we expected a decent experience, but we were very disappointed! The only good thing about this hotel is the location - it's next to the Port Angeles pier & Hollywood beach, and there are plenty of attractions & restaurants within walking distance. The other thing people might like is the big TV with a host of channels. Coming to the issues - 1) The hotel interiors are quite dated. 2) Our room had a weird smell, probably from the carpet. Smelled like a smoking room of old. 3) During the night there was a lot of noise that kept my wife awake, from people walking in adjacent rooms and the stairs and from the bathroom fixtures. 4) The service was mediocre at best - when we reported the smell & the noise issues, we were simply told someone will look into it. All in all, this was one of the worst hotel stays we have experienced.

Not the newest building, but friendly and professional staff make this place my one-stop shop for the morning ferry. Bonus - they provide long-term parking for 5/night, far better than the 12-15/night elsewhere, and the parking lot is busy enough that I always feel safe leaving a car there. Another bonus, the bar has a very good selection of local craft beers.

From what I remebered as a kid, it was a good hotel, but don't waste your money on it. On top of that, on the way to the restroom in one of the rooms, I cut my foot on something on the floor. And it could've been due to the worn carpet and tacks are starting to show.

Got a great deal on a beautiful, huge room with a marvelous ocean view. We in fact booked the cheapest room but it didn't feel like it. Not sure what others are talking about that rooms are old? Ours seemed brand new. Also very walkable area.

Older restaurant and hotel. They have clean rooms, good food with an outside baby in the warmer months. The food is average which I'd why I scored it so low. Taking the location, view and all the pluses to this property is wouldn't take a lot to take our up a couple of levels and be a rock star in our community! A memorable evening for sure. It's just sad that it is memorable because it is underwhelming!

Clean and comfortable. Great location. Water pressure is amazing. My only annoyance is with the A/C. It's tucked away behind a chair and ottoman really low to the floor. It's a hands and knees operation to see the controls.
