  It's possible to find great deals here, although certain categories of stuff like furniture are often overpriced for the condition. It's worth checking Craigslist first in many cases. The cashier consistently treats me (and I assume others) like we are getting away with something/lying when we've been told certain prices by the floor staff. Overall, I'm glad this place exists because I've seen many things that would make a renovation project easier, and I'm glad these things aren't in a landfill.

  I've purchased so many treasures from here! Antique books, a Moulton bicycle, antique hinges, MCM cabinet handlesmostly salvaged antique and architectural bits. Awesome stuff, but you have to dig for it. The staff overall has been very negotiable and receiving Parking sucks sometimes, but if you just wait a few min, a spot always opens up.

  Ian & Calvin's customer service is top notch excellent! They were very careful putting my items into my vehicle and worked happily with due diligence. I'd come back here just because of their great customer care and the wonderful business this organization provides for the local community.

  To all the people who think their wood is over priced: where do you normally go for your diverse selection of high end hardwoods? What are you comparing to? This place is a gem among slag and I'm so glad it's in my neighborhood. The wood prices are fair. When you buy something here you are supporting small business owners, sustainable lumber, and getting amazing wood right in your back yard. Regarding their other stuff I think the prices are fair and they have an amazing return policy. What other store that sells used things offers a return policy? This place is great. Don't be dissuaded by the impossible to please, cheap and difficult people who love to complain.

  This review and the 5 star rating are prompted by the excellent customer that was once provided to me by Jack M, one of the supervisors at the Reuse Center on South Industrial Highway, at Ann Arbor. The Reuse Center itself is a veritable treasure trove - a wide variety of books, furniture, household items - items in often very good condition, and at excellent prices. As struggling grad students at U of M, my housemates and I, and a lot of our classmates used the Reuse Center often, right from the time we moved into town. At the end of their stay, many college students would donate these possessions back to the Reuse Center for future use by someone else, or to another recycling center. The downside with the Reuse Center, as others have indicated, had been that occasionally, the staff or workers could be unhelpful/unpleasant. It was on one such occasion, that Jack was really helpful. This was an incident that occurred on the 1st of June, 2014. I had come by to check out if there were any new books available. I parked my bicycle near the drop off point - not on the bike stand, which I didn't see, but just inside the gate. After finishing my purchases for the day, I came out to find that my bicycle was gone. One of the workers had quoted a price for it and sold it to someone else. This had happened in a space of 15 minutes!!! I had bought the bicycle - a Trek 3700 Alpha 21 speed w/ Shimano gears for about 180$ from its original owner and as an international student, it was a big investment for me. When I inquired with the workers in the area, one of them told me that he had sold it to someone else. I was distraught and asked them to help me get it back. However, they ganged up and were quite rude and accused me of not being careful. Furthermore, they offered no help at all. Finally, to my good fortune, Jack arrived on the scene - he calmed me down and promised to help. After inquiring with the workers and the front desk, he ascertained that a regular customer, who happened to be a reseller, had picked up the bike. Jack told me not to worry and promised to get it back after digging into their records to trace the buyer. Jack was also kind enough to provide me a replacement bicycle for my use - a Huffy 15 Speed - it was in no way comparable to my Trek, but I was very grateful to him, because without my bicycle, I really had no means to get around. In the meanwhile, I put up a craigslist ad asking for anyone who'd taken it to return it, with no luck. About 9 days later (the 9th of June, 2014), Jack called me up to say that he'd got my bicycle back and I could pick it up. When I got to the Reuse center, the same worker who had sold my bike, came up to me and said that I'd have to pay $50, because the buyer who had returned it, had 'serviced' the vehicle - this was true, but he had also removed some attachments which I had paid for, to customize the bike. I was shocked however that I had to pay to pick up my bicycle. It was picked up and sold without checking whether it was listed in the inventory. However, Jack soon arrived on the scene and waived away those claims. He said, "What happens in my house, is my responsibility - this was our fault and you shouldn't have had to lose your bicycle for even these few days. We'll deal with the buyer and his demand that the $50 be paid back to him.” I was very grateful to Jack - he showed not just exemplary customer service, but also a great attitude and ownership. I'm not sure if he is still with Recycle Ann Arbor, but they were lucky to have him. My previous positive experiences with Recycle Ann Arbor, its variety of products, and cheap prices had been soured by the carelessness and bad attitude of a few of the workers. However, Jack singlehandedly restored my positive feelings about Recycle Ann Arbor. When it was time to get rid of my own furniture and household goods (I disposed all of it, but kept my bike) at the end of my school term, I donated it all to Recycle Ann Arbor. Three years later, I still have my bike and it's one of my prized possessions.

  Got exactly what I was looking for. As organized as they could be and everyone was super nice and helpful. This was a first visit and was happy with the outcome!

  We stopped in yesterday, everything is way way over priced even the wood, we were looking at some live slab wood and other wood pieces plus some furniture, all way over priced it is quite sickening! people go there for a deal on things that probably could be trashed or even given away. I think they would sell more and be more successful in general if they for one lower the prices and two have friendlier employees. I just couldn't believe it, they wanted $18 for a small piece of wood that I know I could get for a couple bucks even at lowes, menards or home depot.. what the heck?
