December 2021 camping

Got here in the afternoon when allowed to park in my reservation RV spot. They have a great view of the lake here. If you walk around the water is on the other side as well which makes it look and feel great.

The bathroom is clean, grounds are clean and each spot looks like they do try and make it a good experience for you. Mid December and no one really here which is why we came up here. It's nice not having anyone else here to destroy the experience/vacation. All that extra drama is nice to get away from.

We found a few places around that had wood for $5 a bundle. It really wasn't too bad of a deal. The wood we bought definitely needed more time to cure. It wasn't horrible but it definitely popped and hissed. All things considered the price was right for how fresh it was.

Stayed here for a four day weekend. Hope to come back and try again during the same time period.

This place is pretty awesome. The sand isn’t ocean sand, but the kids had a great time playing with it. It’s good sandcastle building sand. I wish I took a picture of the playground, which was really nice and right next to the beach. They have public bathrooms that are nice and clean. The swimming area is nice and cleared. No lake weeds or excess mud. Definitely a good spot to bring he kiddos for the day.

The park is absolutely stunning but when I got there I had made a reservation on July 16th today was October 17th and somebody had taken my camping spot! When I went back to the office and told them what happened they made me feel like they were doing me a favor by canceling our reservation, even though it was supposed to be for our honeymoon! So, be firm when you go in the office about getting what you want. Other than that, the place is gorgeous, pristine, clean, and God's country !!

Great place!!! Plenty to do. Lots of hiking over a large area. Plenty of trails for hiking, biking, even snowmobile in the winter. Boat launches and rentals. Camp sites are quiet and affordable. Tent or RV. Already planing for next trip here.

I was there during the off season. It was relaxing and quiet (except for the foul mouthed men in the neighboring cabin). Had a close encounter with a bear. He strolled calmly by as we sat on the porch. It was a rather large bear but we stayed quiet and still as he made his pass and then he just casualty went on his way.

30 of us went to Camping on 11 - 13 Aug. Office staff are friendly and helpfully. My family has 5 peoples with infant. We stayed at the side with electricity, restrooms were clean, very peaceful place. Definitely will be our next camping choice.

Used to always go hiking, camping, and swimming here as a kid. Stopped by the recreation area yesterday to show my family. It was beautiful, just as I remembered it. The only change was new signage, nice new playground, the bathrooms were updated, and the roads through the campgrounds were paved. Very clean and spacious park with opportunity for many activities. Tons of picnic tables, benches, and grills.

Water is cold most of the time but u get used to it, really relaxing. Hiking is nice and campsite is really rocky hard to put a tent on ( campsite 229). Showers decently clean. Great place to bring ur family to spend time, really enjoyed it.

I had the best experience with my family. Other campers are generally quite friendly, and my son made a friend the first day he arrived. Restrooms were clean and well maintained, with wash basins and laundry facilities at one of the sites. Nice beach nearby with swimming allowed and rentals. Just 30 minutes away are several other attractions, such as motor-boating and a well-tended outdoor zoo.

Though Google thinks "Boat Rental" this review is for the State Park, I have a boat!

Promised Land SP is another PA park nestled in an out-of-the-way location. The lake easily takes a full day to cover in its entirety. The shore is nearly 9 miles in length (at least my last track thinks it is). The lake is highly irregular in shape with coves and branches sprouting up all over the place. Makes for a much more interesting paddle. Lots of wildlife along the shore and much of the shore is uninhabited so there are plenty of places to stop and hang out. Highly recommended!

A lovely park. Good network of hiking trails throughout this park and neighboring Bruce Lake Natural area. We stayed in the newly rebuilt cabin area, and the hot water would not last past mid-afternoon. Keep in mind this area is swamp land, so in season and depending on where you hike, the mosquitos are about as bad as they can get. Vicious swarms following you and biting through your clothing bad. We spotted a bear with two cubs on our hike to Bruce Lake. The trail around Bruce Lake was very overgrown.

Great place for kids; beach, kayaks, small boat rentals, small park museum with few organized events. Lots of kids ride bikes and scooters on the main road which is not a problem as speed limit is 5 mph and everyone is very careful. Three buildings with bathroom, there's laundry, showers and sinks for washing dishes (new buildings so they're nice and clean). Overall the place is very quiet (and if you're not in the evening expect visit fro park rangers). Depending on the location, sites are usually large, each has own fire pit, some have hookups, some are on the water, varies regarding shade. Beach is small, no lifeguard but someone is watching it over (no crossing over the line, etc). Beach sand is just sort of construction sand (it's not a real beach after all but it's OK). Shallow waters up to 4 feet by the rope so pretty good for little ones. On one side of the park there's a meadow with playground, small ice cream store I think, and volley ball court. Outside the park, closest store is maybe 2 miles away, the 'Lake Store'-they sell basic food and camping essentials plus there's an ice machine in the back. Couple places sell wood. Just wanted to mention it so you are prepared before going there because the place is kind of secluded to my standards. Enjoy.

WOW This was a great surprise. Stopped after a long drive found a large park, with multiple campgrounds. Stayed in an RV. Good facilities, clean, pet-friendly, good roads. Staff was very friendly. A good mix of tent/camper. We wished we could stay longer.

This is a beautiful state park with a number of campgrounds. Each has it's own personality. We were lucky enough to reserve one of the last camp sites for the Memorial Day Weekend 2016. If you plan ahead though (more than a week), you usually can get your pick of sites.
There is so much to do here. This was our first time and we made it a purely fishing trip. A number of spots are available along the shoreline of 2 lakes. You can use no-motor boats on both lakes. There is a spot to also rent boats though we did not do it on this trip. Other things to do and I am sure there are more, include: hiking, biking, horse back riding, swimming, and bird (including eagle) watching.
This was a very family environment with a broad range of people. The facilities were kept very clean, such as the bathrooms being cleaned daily. The campgrounds are well patrolled and the bear we saw crossing the roadway as we approached the park didn't come and bother us. I would definitely return with family and friends.
