Ball diamonds; at least one soccer field; a rather extensive, treed playground; beautiful hiking trail; restrooms with flush toilets and sometimes soap. Right before entrance to Algonkian Regional Park.
Ball diamonds are most likely padlocked when not used by leagues -- no private practicing / practice swings. The ladies' room was not the cleanest or best-kept, although there was a changing table (and trash can by the door) in the restroom. (There was soap and water, although the soap was almost gone. Toilets of varying levels of cleanliness. Still beats port-o-johns.) Restrooms may be locked when ball diamonds / soccer field(s) are not in use.
The playground is located behind the ball diamonds, butting up against Algonkian Park. You probably won't see it from the road. It got extensive usage the Sunday afternoon we were there.
The hiking / biking trail, although gravel, was lined with deciduous trees. Very pretty and relaxing scenery. Way better than Elizabeth Mills trail imo. Allegedly connects all the way to Great Falls National Park, via the other parks in Great Falls (Seneca, River Bend)! Don't try to take your bike down that whole thing -- it's a long way, and there are some "billy goat" rock outcrop sections in Great Falls. I would know: I've hiked out there.
The park has a strong community-gathering-type feel. Nice people, great place to take kids to help them socialize with their peers. Good for nature hikes, too. Did not notice as many ticks as Banshee Reeks or Elizabeth Mills / Kephart Bridge Landing. Seemed like a very nice find for a public park in Loudoun. =)response / report this review -

Love the ribbon fries from the concession stand. Clean restrooms and maintain fields like they should. Our travel team have played there several times and it's always been a great experience!

Real nice softball complex. The soccer fields are not flat and there are quite a few rutt's scattered about on all of them. They have bathrooms also.

This is a very nice complex. My rating is due to the fact that looking at their a website they say they are a pet friendly park. I traveled almost 2 hours with our dog for a weekend softball tournament for my daughter. Only to find out dogs are not allowed in the fenced area around the field. So I spent the entire weekend watching games from behind the outfield fence. No where near my daughter or her team.

While I don't visit the fields, I do visit the children's playground and park area. There are four separate structures for children to play on in differing age ranges (though kids are going to run to any of them). There is plenty of space for things to do and nearby Algonquian Park provides plenty of trail/bike riding literally next door. The fields look well maintained and parking is generally good except during ball games (there are several fields afterall).
The only downside is that if you are at the playground, you need to plan to take a scheduled bathroom break as it is a bit of a walk to the concession stand where the bathrooms are and accidents may happen. Bathrooms are extra busy during ball games. Bring water as there are no water fountains (that I've seen) unless you are by the concessions and concessions themselves are not always open.
Great park though and our go to for visiting family and friends when in the area.response / report this review
