There is something fun about dining along side water and watching boats cruise by your table. This restaurant is on the Intercoastal Waterway (ICW) and offers a casual dining experience. Good seafood choices, variety, at reasonable price. Music entertainment adds to the casual ambiance and helps to pass the time sipping beverages if you have to wait for a table.
This is a large place with lots of outdoor seating and obviously sunset views though we came after, having enjoyed sunset on Casey Key Beach. We usually go to Pelican Alley but it's closed due to Hurricane damage. They hope to reopen in the new year. Pop's is a little nicer looking, nicer bathrooms and more extensive views. But we missed the pelicans and the tempura. We started with clam chowder which was very creamy and plenty of stuff but severely underseasoned. It was enjoyable but I expected a bowl rather than a cup for the price. We shared the catch of the day -- swordfish -- and coconut shrimp. The fish was offered blackened or wood grilled. We opted for the latter and it was delicious though there was no sauce of any kind. Again, and I don't usually complain about portions, but it was quite a small piece of fish. Coconut shrimp were tasty, not the best I've had. French fries unremarkable, about the same as Pelican. Had mac and cheese, pretty pasty and bland. Vegetable skewers consisted of 2 cherry tomatoes, and 2 small wedges each of zucchini and yellow squash. Had a couple local beers on tap. Service was fine.
Great food! The baskets are well prepared, with a good portion of fish. Cool sitting out on the deck watching the draw bridge let boats through. Well worth spending a little extra for a great dining experience.
Not very boater friendly. Even though they have outdoor seating they don’t allow dogs. Not typical for Florida. Most are dog friendly. As long as you keep control of your pet. So for that and the not so polite wait staff we won’t be back! Good luck and I hope you change your policy soon.
Our first visit and we would come back. We were seated with a water view where we watched the sunset and the nearby drawbridge. Food arrived quickly and was tasty. Acoustic live music was enjoyable and at a volume level that allowed for conversation. After the sun set, my wife was cold and they moved us inside with no fuss.
Parking is the only challenge here, but there is a grassy lot just down the street if the main parking lot is full.
Pull in to Dock you're boat and have brunch, lunch or dinner it's awesome and so Florida
Great food, happy staff us manatees just off the dock plus dolphins and birds. Plus I had great company. Great evening! We went back the next night and had the "Full Steamship". It was great- lobster tails shrimp, corn on the cob, potatoes, veggies. It was wonderful.
Love Pop's ! Have always enjoyed eating and drinking here. The band's are great too. The menu has decent variety & reasonably priced. I'd say that this is a great place for the locals..let the tourists and snow birds have Sharkeys. Pop's is a great kept secret.
Been here for the first time a few months ago and I loved it! Food and drinks were tasty. Waterfront views with boat docks. Its easy to access and the atmosphere is pretty laid back. I will definitely go again!
Excellent food and drinks, great atmosphere, friendly service, waterfront dining with beautiful view. Very busy during season but wait times not nearly as long as they tell you. Give them a cell phone number and have a drink at the bar while waiting for a table!
The drinks were good, food was ok view is nice if you sit by the water. This place could be so much better
One thing you can say about Pop's: the service is always excellent. I mean over the top great. The food on the other hand, is another story. The best advice I can give is, "go for what THEY know." That basically means stick with the fresh seafood platters. The burger was OK, but the coconut shrimp came frozen, pre-made, out of a bag. After years of eating them, you can tell. They still get 3 stars for their view and their service. Just stick with whatever was recently caught and you'll be fine.
The atmosphere is great with neat seating areas. There are several areas to sit at by the water and a fire pit area for a more cozy feel. The menu has a big variety. The bars are well stocked and their mixed drinks are very good and not overly expensive like some other local restaurants.
Great place to have dinner or a drink. Right on the water with places to dock your boat. We had there drink special of the day and split the fish tacos. Everything was good! Service was friendly, attentive and not over bearing. Prices were reasonable for the area. Would definitely recommend and go back when in the area.
