Cool spot on the AP boardwalk. Food is pretty good too.
Boardwalk authentic Mexican. Right across the boardwalk from the beach! Good food served quickly. Small place not much signage. Worth looking for!
Right on the boardwalk. Good food. Nice location. Might have to pay for parking
Hello all! My group and I from out of town visted this establishment for a time of fun! Woo! We ordered another round of shots after already closing a few tabs earlier and headed out to the boardwalk/beach. After not being asked for identification, bank card or being given a receipt we forgot to pay and were accused of walking out when we were very far from our vehicle. We returned to our tab and paid it accordingly but it was a very unpleasant situation.
Food was good. Pretty standard Mexican food. Service wasn't the best.
Love the stuffed plantain, burrito(better be hungry) and Pico de Gallo is the best. Too busy, long wait for table and food, waitress got my order wrong the last 2 times.
First time eating here on Saturday, wait time was not bad at all, waiter was good. I ordered Beef Tacos (carne asada)entree with rice and beans and it was pretty good. It was a little pricey but I expected that because restaurant is located on the boardwalk.
Excellent casual dining experience. Our waitress, Caitlin, took great care of us. PS - happy birthday. She was attentive and friendly. Prices were reasonable and the quantities were ample. Had the plantains has an appetizer, I highly recommend them. And the chicken chimichanga was more than I could eat.
Decent Mexican at the beach.
Asbury park is getting to be more and more the year-round town with the recent renaissance and places getting recognized as "National" placements on lists of "best of". That being said, as a shore place Pop's Garage is one of those places on the boardwalk that has ok fare and decent atmosphere. The summer is when this place is really worth while as the outdoor seating is where it's at on the boards, more for people watching than anything else.
The food is decent, fair Mexican, not the pinnacle but not the worst by far. The drinks are good with a decent Margarita list and the beer is cold. Fair Mole sauce and fair Carne Asada.
Most of all, it's the location. Go in the summer and get a seat outside.
Very disappointed. Drove for over an hour with my husband and son to receive poor service. In all fairness not understanding what the protocol was when it came to seating and no one acknowledging me made things bad very quickly. When we were finally being served I guess my dissatisfaction showed and it went from bad to worse. I was never offered a drink so I stayed with my water . My husband and son at least got theirs.
When we received our meals everyone seemed to like it. Too bad the poor service ruined it. The location is great but next time I will walk 500 yards to other establisments I am sure will take my patronage.
Such a horrible experience. Just wen there for lunch. It was not busy. Waited forever for our apps. They came back after 20 mins and said they ran put of guac. Really?!?! Is it not a mexican based restaurant? We asked for chips and sour cream instead The sourcream was mirr like ranch dressing. Its their homemade sour cream. Its gross. And they couldnt give us just plain sour cream . Really? Ehat do they use as the base for their home made? There is no sour cream in the kitchen?!? We then waited another 20 minuts for our food that never came. We finally asked to pay for the littw food that we received and we left. Horrible experience. Never going back again.
Great food, great service. Bar is somewhat limited in space, but has everything you need! Great weekend brunch!
I went on a random Tuesday night when nobody else was there. They had 1/2 off their playa burritos which was awesome. Burritos were a good size. All in all great location, solid drinks, and good food.
