Very helpful with all Bee husbandry supplies and honey related items. Prices are high compared to other bee supplies, but there are few competitors in the region.
Very helpful staff good selection of equipment and hives would highly recommend
I ordered two nucs, a jacket and gloves and they were very helpful. There were dead bees in the nucs but that is to be expected when they are shipped across the country, so far they are all doing well. I also think the jacket and gloves were very well made.
Dead Bees and No Help. I just got my "final determination" that the USPS is not going to pay for the bees that they killed by placing them within a plastic USPS bag. Initially, I was instructed by my local Illinois Post Office branch NOT to bring dead animals in for inspection, but rather bring photos and the rest of the packing material. I did so, but later learned that I should have taken everything to a Missouri Post Office more than an hour away in a different state because it is the regional claims center for all of St Louis. The bottom line is that I am without any bees and my $370.
Vare slow to ship. Not to imprested with thare customer service.
I ordered my bees and sent an email asking what I needed to do since I had never bought bees online before. I didn't get a reply till the day before the bees shipped and it was to give me the tracking number. It did not answer my questions. The bees shipped fast and we're at my post office within 48 hours of shipping. I got to the post office and they told me the bees were on the dock and went to get them. Most of the bees were in a pile on the bottom of the cage instead of hanging around the queen. I saw a lot of dead bees but there were a lot crawling around to. I drove straight home and took the bees inside to inspect better. 80 to 90 percent of the 10000 bees were dead. I immediately called customer service but they were closed so I emailed them explaining that the queen made it but most bees were dead. I had taken video and picture soon as I got home but the only reply was to tell me I shouldn't have accepted the package if more than 1/2 of an inch of bees were in the bottom of the box. Again I state that I asked them what I needed to do since I had never bought bees before and I had never received an answer. As of today the queen and a few hundred bees are struggling to survive.
Im in my first years of bee keeping and I got my bees right when I way supposed to. There wasn't even a 100 dead in the bottom. My only complaint would be that I thought my package was short on weight, weighing only 2.75 off bees. But they are doing great.
Drove 2 hr to buy supplies based on Their prices on Their site, only to be told that wasn't their prices any longer and the new price was double, I even showed her the price on Their website and she said well that's not the price any more. That is False advertising!!! Needless to say, I walked out empty handed, they will never get my business!!
I want to thank the hardworking crew at Pigeon Mountain Trading Company! I live in Connecticut and ordered my first ever nuc of bees back in March. Please know this was my first experience with bees. Bridget calmly took my order and sent out the nuc on the 23rd of May on a Monday. 2 day shipping by U.S. Postal Service. Due Wednesday but unfortunately they did not until Friday morning. Not the fault of the Pigeon Mountain! My heart broke when at 5am I picked up my lady bees and the box was heated. I sweet watered them down and placed them in our cool place with lights out. I installed them that very evening and only one tray melted with the honey and I was surprised how many of the poor bees had survived! The Queen survived just fine and everything to my limited experience worked out very well. Thank you again to the team at Pigeon Mountain Trading Company for a job well done preparing for a disaster of overheating the cage but I was amazed how many bees survived the ordeal! Bridget you are a Saint for calmly reassuring my order was in proper place and dealing with a my first time order! Thank you all very much! A great experience overall, 5 stars to Pigeon Mountain Trading Company! I will defiantly use this company again!
I drove over to the shop Thursday to look at and buy some new equipment. I could not have been any happier with the treatment I got. The saleslady's name was Bridget. There was also a younger girl there. She showed me where everything I needed was and also suggested items on sale. The suit I wanted did not have a hat and veil so they took one off another one and put them together. I spent over an hour. I mentioned the reviews I found here and she admitted they had some bad people here but they were all let go. I told her most of the complaints were about customer service and bee shipments and she addressed that also but said those problems have been remedied. Although they still have trouble sometimes with the PO. You never know whet happens after they ship bees. All in all I am very happy and would go back again, I was not looking for an extractor but they have several models on sale 1/2 price if you need one. Including a metal one for under $100. I have no affiliation with anyone there I'm just starting a top bar hive after being out of beekeeping for 20 years or so. If you think I'm blowing smoke email me, Im on facebook larry williard
