My husband and I had never been to Ludington before. We were looking for a partial week, something affordable, and somewhere close to the state park. Peaceful Acres ticked all the boxes. *Note: This review is for the MOTEL ROOM UNITS, not the cabins/cottage units (haven't stayed in those).

I called about a month before our trip and was surprised to be able to reserve one of the motel rooms at Peaceful Acres for three nights (versus their cabins/cottages which are booked way in advance and for a weekly rate during season). Side note: the woman who picked up answered "Ferwerda's." Apparently that's part of the name of this place too.

Our unit was #19 and it had two different rooms with a queen bed in each with the bathroom in the middle. The room also had a small fridge/freezer, 4-cup coffee maker, microwave, hairdryer (hiding under sink), shower (square, no tub), A/C, and a couple TV's. The rooms were clean. We weren't able to connect successfully to the Wifi but we didn't ask about it so that might've been able to be fixed. There is no table in the room, so we ate most of our meals at the picnic table on our front porch.

We used the back room for our 9-month-old son and put the pack-n-play on the side, and set our suitcases on the bed back there. I also used the cupboard/entertainment center for food storage (just pushed the TV over). I used hot/cold bags whenever we went out for the day so we didn't have to purchase meals.

For meals, I packed an ELECTRIC GRIDDLE! The campfires are community (they have three) but we weren't right by any of them so we didn't bother (totally could have though). The only sink is a bathroom sink (separate a but right across from the bathroom) and I used that to wash dishes. Brought my own dish soap, hand soap, cutting board, sharp knives, paper products, skillet, coffee mugs (theirs are small), board/card games, etc. Was able to make-do rather well. We ate out one evening by choice. Also, it is well water, so if that's a problem for you, bring your own water.

As far as the community, it is clearly very family friendly, and I have no doubt if you want to get to know the other guests, you could, we just opted to stick to ourselves. There were guests in the motel room right next to us and they were very friendly, but other than some conversation as we went in and out, again we stuck to ourselves. The front desk was a bit disappointing. We had never been and had no idea the protocol. Didn't really get anything explained to us. Some things that might have been helpful like how the campfire work (including lighting and firewood and community, etc.), that you take out your own trash (all good, just didn't know if we should be waiting for someone to come by), that towels aren't replaced every day (again, no problem, just didn't know how it worked), nearby attractions, etc. None of this is a big deal, but as timid first-timers we just felt like everyone else knew how it all worked, and we didn't. We still absolutely enjoyed our time though!

The beach is nice and there's some picnic tables and a grassy spot down by the beach. Quite lovely and peaceful.

Overall we had an incredibly relaxing trip. We loved how close it was to the state park.

If you're just wanting a few days and/or want to plan well for food and save money that way (since the motel rooms don't have a kitchenette), this is a great option.

The cottages are what you would expect for the low rates, nothing fancy but sufficient. I won't go back though because last summer they rented a room to a family member who was only staying for a night and the room reeked of cat urine. The smell was so foul and intense I couldn't believe they rented it out. When I attempted to contact them later they never responded. The resort is right across from Lake Michigan though so there's that.

Very nice, rustic, cozy but everything you need. Complete kitchen, hot shower, good distance from neighbors. Close enough to Hamlin lake. Good value for the price, clean. Lucky choice for the area, would try it again if we were planning to be in the area.
