Very peaceful. Part of the the national forest. No pets allowed outside of a vehicle. Because of the wildlife that live in the forest.!!!

When I was a kid, this was a place most people in my county stayed away from. We were always put off by the water in summer. It seemed to always leave an oil all over your swim suit. Now that I'm older, I have a new appreciation for Ocean Pond. I camp there pretty regularly with our scout troop. There are great hikes, geocaching, swimming, fishing, boating, camping and a little history lesson here and there.

Very attractive reserve at which to stop for a break. Interesting 3/4 of a mile walk to take. Restrooms vert clean. A place to take a break with children on a long drive without them pestering for fast food, though vending machines are available for drinks, ice-cream, etc. Nice grassed area to walk dogs.

My favorite place so many great memories where made here Malcolm johns brought me here an its been my favorite its beautiful place I hosted there volunteering my time giving back to what I love. Visit its a family fun place my kids an grand kids love it home away from home

Great swimming. Great hunting. Camping is allowed. Can't ask much more from a national forest. Being from the small town that has simple access to it, it is one of the best places you can go to have cheap, simple fun. To me theres nothing better than that. With family or alone to get away.

Good short trails through historic battlefield. Has monuments as well and small but informative visitor center. Public restroom inside. Free but donations accepted.

It is gorgeous! The only reason I give 4 star is lack of informative signs on the road. If you follow the address on Google maps, it takes you to a random place in the middle of the forest. It is not bad, we saw some raccoons and deers there. It is better to follow the address to Ranger district to get to somewhere with some people and restrooms!

Nice little park across from our camp ground at Ocean Pond, both are in Osceola National Forest. Beautiful views overlooking the pond. I love areas that give you nature/history tidbits. This one reports the pond (huge, I would say lake) is either the result of a sink hole or a meteor strike. Area Indians tell of fire in the sky so I vote meteor. CCC constructed bath house (love those guys!); really impressive work from our history. Also a .5 mile walking trail that follows an area industry rail line that 2 Civil War veterans started just at the end of the war all the way up to the 1920s. They and their crews worked in these hot, swampy works harvesting timber; producing turpentine etc. Very informative signs with historic pictures all along the walk. One of the park hosts stopped and visited with us; after our answering our questions we bonded over our mutual love of dogs. Very nice little place, definitely worth a visit!

Good campsites. Nice little boat ramp. Bathrooms and hot showers are not bad for a campground. Ocean Pond is good for boating, kayaking, skiing, fishing, and swimming. Just saw a great sunrise and then it is off to kayak sail the pond. Raccoons seem to be manageable. Cost is reasonable. There is even cell phone service.
