I hate staying at independently owned hotels because usually i'm disappointed. We just returned from our 3 night stay at Ocean Spirit Resort & I was sincerely pleased with my experience. The "room" was really more like a small apartment. Unit #4 had a full kitchen with full refrigerator, sink, large coffee maker, tea kettle, range top & microwave. The downstairs (no i'm not kidding) had a nice leather couch, a flat screen TV & a 6-person dining table & chairs, complete with the full kitchen mentioned before & a 1/2 bath. The cute spiral staircase wound up to the bedroom which was a queen sized bed, dresser, nightstands, giant walk-in closet, large roomy bathroom & shower with good pressure. Outside my bedroom was a small balcony that overlooked the pool Most importantly the unit was CLEAN!!! Spotless in fact. This place would be awesome to rent for a small wedding. only a few units & the owners live on the grounds. Decent size pool & outside shower. The best part? The owners are very laid back since nobody was checking in after us, they told us to take our time leaving the unit. Loved this place & plan to return yearly!

Ocean Spirit Resort is conveniently located one block from the Atlantic Ocean in Pompano Beach. We stayed in the 2 Bedroom Unit 1, which is comfortably furnished and has the advantage of being buffered from the road noise on A1A. The condo was roomy and included a well stocked, fully remodeled kitchen, a nice sized dining area and spacious living room. The bedrooms were upstairs, with the Master Bedroom opening onto a good sized balcony overlooking the pool. The master bedroom had a king bed, while the guest room was a full size bed. There was also a Queen sofa bed in the living room. There are two bathrooms, one on each floor, with the one downstairs having a nice sized shower, whereas upstairs was a shower/tub combination. There was a huge flat screen television in the living room with Dish Network cable package and their wireless internet connection worked great. Although the ocean is only a short walk, the outdoor pool was great. Especially as one day the surf was just to rough to venture out and swim. Compared to the nearby Pompano Beach Pier, you have the beach practically to yourself. Ample free parking was available on site. The owners, Stan, Anna and their son Nicholas, obviously take great pride in their property; and their living on site is a fantastic asset in that they offer great advice on which of the local activities, restaurants and stores are available nearby. Even though the resort offers many amenities and a retreat from the reality of everyday life, there are distinct advantages to having a car. First of all, the added mobility makes it easier to enjoy all that Pompano Beach has to offer, like being able to stock up on groceries or enjoy a night out at one of the hundreds of restaurants located within a short drive. Only downside was having to visit the on site coin-operated laundry if you wanted fresh towels - a towel exchange would have been a nice option. Pompano is a neat vacation spot and the Ocean Spirit Resort makes a great home away from home.
