I would like to single out Dr J. Iqbal. He is simply outstanding, going far beyond what you would normally expect from a service provider. If we had a vet in our family, we could not get more compassionate care than Lou got from Dr Iqbal. Everyone working in healthcare could learn from him!
Dr. Iqbal is the only vet we trust with all of our fur children. Highly recommended who deeply cares about his patients.
everyone in their was very friendly and patient. Me being a first time dog owner was stressed out about her having worms. And their being a mess up in the paperwork didn't help. But the front desk and the doctors were very nice and overall made my experience so much better. This place actually cares about you pet and would highly recommend for anyone who wants that family doctor for your pet!
I have brought my dog to this location several times. I found it while in crisis after my dog potentially swallowed plastic. They were great. The staff has always been kind, and the doctor is sweet and conservative with treatments. Would highly recommend.
Staff is friendly and they are caring to the pets. They keep their place very clean.
Maybe my experience is an odd one however it's not one I would recommend to others. I started coming here because the kitten we adopted was already on file with this vet.
The staff seems somewhat friendly as in they said hello with a smile but they were not very welcoming so it always feels a little awkward to walk in even if you have a scheduled appointment.
I have two cats and they both have been seen by the same doctor and I can't even tell you his name because he didn't really introduce himself. The appointments have felt rushed and he seemed like he didn't really want to touch the cats, maybe he's a dog person I don't know, and maybe this is a personal preference but I like it when the vet seems like he's interested in the animals he's seeing and that they aren't just a file number.
Each time I have left I felt confused about what was actually wrong with my cats and unsure if what they did and what I had to give them was actually going to help.
Not trying to persuade anyone from not visiting here, like I said it seems like my experience isn't the usual one. I just thought I would share.
Love this place. Doctor and staff are friendly and caring. Wait time is minimal. Doctor takes the time with your pet and you, addresses your concerns and explains in detail what he feels might be the problem. I highly recommend this business
Good, honest vet. He takes care of our pup like it is his own!
I could not put into words what Oak Elm Animal hospital is doing for my family and I. Being "wished the best" by several local vets because I like many others cant afford a major surjury, being left with no alternative other than a cheaper short end to a young dogs life, leaving us..a family a member shy. After hours calling several animal hospitals from Chicago to Milwaukee trying to find the slightest bit of compassion and or humanity we felt hopeless. Until we received a call from a family friend refering us to Oak Elm. Coviently enough and unlike most other animal hospitals they are open Sundays. I drove over an hour and brought my dog in and was prepared to wait some time as I had no appointment. I was amazed that within a period of 30 minutes or less I was addressed several times by the busy DR and he even apologized that I had been waiting. After an examinination I was given a clear opinonin as well as several different options. I felt very comfortable with my answer of what ever you reccomend Dr. The way they care, they way they work with you on an extremly fare and what I feel is generous pricing. It is safe to say without a doubt we would be a family member shy without the large hearts of the folks at Oak Elm. When everyone else shut their doors, Oak Elms was open.. I will return to and heavily recommend Oak Elm Animal Hospital to all my family and friends. After my story they would have to agree this place is worth the drive.
I have always had great experiences at Oak Elm. Their customer service is first class and they serve the doggy community honorably. Their partnership with Wagging Hearts is what brought us there and we are happy to stick with them for our Dog's healthcare. Thanks Oak Elm.
Dr. Basran is one of the kindness, understanding, passionate and reasonable vet I've come across. He did an excellent job taking care of my two kitty babies. He knows what he is doing. They ll treat you and your furry babies like you are a part of the family. The prices are very reasonable. They don't push any unnecessary tests or medications and always give you an option about what can be done to help your pet. I highly recommend Oak Elm Animal Hospital!!!
Attention all those who were referred here by Wright Way Rescue.
We adopted a 2 month old puppy two weeks ago and went here for the 72 hour check-up. Our cat's vet is in Portage Park, and we live in Des Plaines so it seemed a more convenient option to explore.
I have to say that the first thing that put me off is the completely grotesque, putrid scent inside the veterinary lobby. I understand that it is inevitable that it smells like animals, but this smelled like a Puppy Mill, it was very intense.
We were seen by a veterinarian, he did not introduce himself, or if he did I really do not remember. He weighed our puppy, barely touched him and told us he was fine. He did not ask any questions other than "how is he doing?" which for new puppy owners doesn't queue much information. The appointment lasted all of 3 minutes. He did not take the dog's temperature, talk to us about flea prevention or heart worm medication. We brought a fecal sample, they charged us for the test and never called back with the results.
When it was about a week out from getting a call from the hospital, we decided to take him to another veterinarian. We took him to a different Des Plaines Animal Hospital and it was like night and day. The office smelled heavenly, the rooms were clean and the staff was exceptional. They gave us a puppy kit, complimentary flea and heart worm protection for one month. They completed his vaccinations, did a comprehensive fecal exam (and called us the next day with the results, even though they were negative!). We actually felt like the dog was examined and are feeling much more confident about our adoption and the health of our puppy! This veterinarian actually cared, unlike our experience at Oak Elm.
I do not wish to discourage anyone from Oak Elm Hospital, this is simply our experience with it and it was not good. It seems that some of the other doctors have a little bit more invested in the business, after all, these 5 star reviews have to be coming from somewhere.
