Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The vet seemed very experienced and knowledgeable. We did have to wait a while in the exam room, but that comes with the territory of an emergency location so it is not anyone's fault.

We had the most awful night letting go of our beloved Ozzie. We had a very negative experience with the vet but the vet techs - Brittany and Rachel - are what deserve the 5-star rating. We're choosing to focus on the positive because we refuse to let an awful vet ruin our boy's last night. When we left—we all felt a deep sense of warmth and gratitude for the grace and compassion that both Brittany and Rachel showed us. They felt what we felt, gave us time, shared in our pain, and heard us. We have grateful hearts this morning for the tenderness of these two ladies. Thank you Brittany and Rachel. Thank you for taking such loving care of our sweet boy, Oz.

I found a stray cat that had been hit by a car. We called and told them he wasn't ours (though, if fate had been kinder, I would have given him a home) but they said to bring him in anyway.

It turns out he had a broken jaw and possible head trauma. They were all very kind and genuinely caring as they delivered the news that it would be more considerate to let him go. Every single person there cared about that little stray cat. The tech consoled me and little Alexander as I had dubbed him and we saw him on his way out. 10/10 on an experience that is never less than awful.

Thank you guys for making it just a little less terrible and caring for this little guy when he really needed some love and compassion.

I noticed that my 14 year old cat had two severely ingrown nails on his front paw tonight and he wouldn’t let me touch them. I called BluePearl and explained what was happening and they said that I should bring him in since it could be infected and require antibiotic. When I got there, they told me that I’d have to wait “a while” to be seen since he was stable. I sat in the waiting room for over two hours while other people’s pets were ushered right in. Finally, someone came out and told me that every time someone else comes in, my wait time gets extended and I could be waiting for a really long time because my cat’s condition was stable. They then said that this wasn’t an urgent matter and I should just try to get him into his regular vet the following morning or on Monday.

Look, I get that my cat’s situation wasn’t an emergency, but I called ahead of time to explain what was happening and they told me to bring him in. When you tell me to come in, my expectation is that someone would actually see him and take care of it rather than waste my time and make my 14 year old, arthritic cat sit in his cage in a waiting room full of barking dogs.

My advice - if someone calls and it doesn’t sound like the situation requires immediate attention, be honest and tell them that they’d be better off waiting until they can get into their regular vet. Being dishonest and wasting people’s time typically isn’t a winning formula for gaining repeat customers.

We had to bring in our pet rabbit on the weekend and they were very caring and professional. They were making sure that any steps they took was reviewed with us in full so we understood everything (including costs). They were great at sending over all the information to our pet's vet to ensure a smooth follow-up.

I cannot say enough good things about Blue Pearl. I met them in very unfortunate circumstances as my cat of 16 years was very sick and failing by the minute. I had made an appt to put her down at my regular vet the next day. As the night went on, I could not stand to see her in so much pain. I found Blue Pearl online and they were very compassionate on the phone. They told me they were busy (10 pm at night) but that they would expedite me when I arrived. They did this and then some. When I arrived I didn't have to say a word, they ushered me into the back into a private room. They were caring and made me feel like they understood my pain as well as the pain my cat was going through. They quickly did paperwork, asked my preferences and my old girl was with the kitty angels shortly after. I was able to hold her in the last moments and give her a proper goodbye.
Just when I thought this place couldn't get any classier, I received a card today with a personal note from all of them. It made me cry but happy tears as I know she's in a better place.
This is a very hard thing to do. My cat was treated like a VIP in her last minutes of life and I'm grateful for the entire team at Blue Pearl. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Misdiagnosed my guinea pig, told me it needed a shot. A shot they did not have in the emergency care. They could get the shot from the vet next door in the morning. I said I would have trouble getting back there the next day. The offered to keep him overnight. I asked how much.
After significant amount of time in which they were going to figure out how It cost I guess. I was told that the doctor decided not to keep it overnight for the treatment.
I took off of work to take it to a different vet the next day. He never needed the shot in the first place he needed a shampoo.
When I was talking with the doctor I mentioned a common, as I had researched it on the internet, condition my elderly boar had. She said she had never heard of such a thing.
The other vet knew all about it and suggested how we could help him with it better.

I fax a letter to Blue Pearl and follow up with a phone call. They never responded. It was a very difficult time in my life (losing my beloved lab, Hershey, of 14 years) and no response equals no compassion.

Here's an excerpt of the letter I sent:

"Anytime you administer a lethal dose you need to be as certain as is humanely possibly that this is the right decision. The fact that you never met Hershey (or Ken) before seems to me the suggestion could have been to talk with our regular vet or to sleep on the decision (and for the rest of the family to be consulted!) since the decision was irreversible. Frankly, you were a complete stranger to my family and Hershey was part of my family."

    NO COMMENT from Blue Pearl.

Dr. MacLaughlin and Michelle at the front desk were very professional, compassionate, and kind when we euthanized our cat here. They gave us plenty of time to absorb what we had to do and clearly explained everything we needed to know. It can't be easy to deal with distressed humans facing this choice and I really appreciate the time they took. Since it is emergency care, it is more expensive than your normal vet, but it's reasonable to pay a premium for hours when most veterinarians aren't available. The waiting room, exam rooms, and bathroom were clean, and the check-in and payment procedures were handled smoothly. Of course we would have preferred that our cat be alive, but that wasn't Blue Pearl's fault and they did what they could to make the situation less difficult.
